Software sales are way down.  I think the hobby we love is in a very strange time.  You have EA saying they now get 40% of their revenue from non-consoles, you  have the impact of cheap games on the iPad and iPhone changing the "value" of games.  The publishers have been dropping prices on slow selling titles faster and deeper.

I really don't what all this is going to look like 4 years from now.  I can see Microsoft sticking with it, they have finally achieved what they set out to do when they entered the market (making a viable set-top box for media distribution).  Sony, I have no idea if they'll stick with consoles.  Nintendo will keep going with their niche forever.  But as for third-parties like EA, Activision and Ubisoft?  I can see them making less and less titles for the core as the years go by and diversifying into "play" more than "games".

Ok...I just saw what has to be the WORST choice Nintendo and Team Ninja made with Metroid Other M....you all know the cutscene....the pouty thumbs down. WTF was that?

Oh on another note I finished Limbo last night. I hate it. Really really hate it. I can't believe how much critical acclaim it got. I was caught up in it at first, but now that it's over I'm not impressed. Review is forthcoming... and it won't be pretty.
