So we have the first conduit 2 review from UK Broadsheet The Guardian which is a serious political newspaper.
Also we have new screens from FAST racing WiiWare from Shin'en
More here
Jett Rocket, for instance, is one of the best-looking titles on the Wii even though it is a downloadable release and weighs in at less than 40 megabytes. Again, that’s because the developers over at Shin’en truly work their magic on Nintendo platforms.
Shin’en’s next WiiWare title, FAST – Racing League, is looking equally as impressive. The game has finally been pinned for a May release in Europe and it should hit the North American Wii Shop Channel around the same timeframe. To celebrate the upcoming release of FAST, Shin’en has sent us some new screenshots of the title. You can check those out above. Company CEO Manfred Linzner has also explained why fans should be excited about the game.
1. Fresh Gameplay
Extreme fast races build with a new design idea. You can switch between a white and black phase. Doing so lets you use various gadgets on the tracks like speedup ramps, overhead passages or giant jumps. You can also choose instead to use your ‘switch energy’ to give your vehicle a massive boost anytime. This makes each race unique and a great overall
experience. On top of the general racing experience we added tons of unlockables and over 20 racing missions, all on unique build tracks.
2. Best tech
- FAST looks fabulous when moving, still screens do no real justice. First footage is coming as soon the game is scheduled by Nintendo.
- FAST runs in super smooth 60fp, 16:9 or 4:3 for singleplayer and twoplayer splitscreen. It supports upto 4 player splitscreen.
- For multiplayer you can choose to split the screen vertically or horizontal.
- It uses the latest iteration of our tech, continually in development since 2005 and previously used in games like Nanostray 2′ or more recently ‘Jett Rocket’.
- For FAST we exclusivley added occlusion culling to our tech to maintain solid framerates anytime. The latest tech also includes stuff like ambient occlusion, emboss mapping, reflections, refractions, dynamic ambient lighting, a weather system (with morning, day, afternoon, night, ice, storm, snow, rain, sandstorms,…), 3d soundeffects, etc.
FAST looks really good. If anything it just makes me want an F-Zero for the Wii.
Nintendo is basically doing exactly what Microsoft did with some of Rare's old N64 games on XboxLive like Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie; Touch them up and clean up the image, give it better controls, etc. Its a great idea and I'd like to see it done to all the old classics.
I don't see it happening. Too crazy.
I think, with the controller, they're basically taking the idea of the DS to the big screen. You'll have the main action up on your TV, in glorious HD visuals....with some extra badassness going on on the sweet ass controller screen. This is all so exciting that I'm ready to pop a load.
Nintendo needs to redesign the Wii and lower the price to $99 in this case:
Or just for kicks, they should re-release it in Platinum Gamecube shells.
OoT 3D is not just a clean up. The characters clearly have more polygons. The environment has better and new textures and it runs at 30 fps instead of 20 fps. Still dissapointed that we do not get a new dungeon.
That's exactly what they did with Rare's games on Live. And Perfect Dark has online multi-player also.
New Nintendo will be named Nintendo HD-LCD006.
Wasn't MDK2 supposed to come out awhile ago on Wiiware? What is the point in even releasing a game like that on Wiiware at this point? Nobody knows what the hell it is and they'll be lucky to sell 100 copies. It wasn't even all that big of a deal when it came out on Dreamcast back in 2000.
I played the demo on DC, didn't really like it. They are tarting it up though for wiiware, its not a straight port or anything. Probably would have pointer support.
This is borderline crazy. Better graphics are always a good thing. All Nintendo games would benefit from better graphics especially Zelda. Not just graphics but power, I want epic, epic is really crappy on wii.
Your gaming fantasy wanderlust is far away from what Nintendo want to develop. You might want some epic massive scale traditional zelda like a western 3rd party might take years to develop with the bestest graphics. Instead you get a cel-shaded zelda inspired by water colour art.
MORTAL KOMBAT ! ! !
*ahem! sorry!*
Absolutely.
Having a Nintendo console that Nintendo can release all their killer 1st-party games on with modern graphics, sound, physics and whatever else behind it so they can fully take advantage of available technology in ALL areas, in addition to actually getting 3rd-party support of software I care about, sounds like a fucking win-win situation to me.
Bring it.
It's all because of the wii. The next zelda will blow everyone away.
How did you get into the beta so early, Archie?
And with 8GB of RAM to work with!
Yes, or Mario. Anyone who thinks cartoony games can't be improved by better tech are kidding themselves. Mario would look ridiculous, in a good way. Look how great the new Banjo Kazooie looked on 360, IMO its one of the top 5 best looking games on the machine. Not to mention they could make the worlds bigger, especially if the rumor of a blu-ray drive is true.
F-zero? Wow. Pikmin? Pikmin was some of the best looking games on the Cube....those gardens would look incredible with PS3 level graphics.
I'm hoping Pikmin 3 is a launch game for it. IMO that's the best time to release a new Pikmin game to remind everyone of the franchise before the big waves of software start to hit. New Pikmin and a Retro Studios game and I'll be happy.
