The following is a bot translation from the original french source.
So it sounds like, if all this is true, the new Nintendo console is going to be very similar in design to the Xbox 360, using a very PC-like architecture for easy developement, but a more powerful version. With a dual analog controller that has a LCD touchscreen on it, making it almost like a handheld/controller hybrid. This will also be the 1st Nintendo console to support HDMI video and digital audio.
I'm definitely all for going back to dual analog, because in my opinion that was the worst thing about the Wii, and its weakest link; no 2nd analog stick for camera control. It forced games to be designed in almost an N64-ish way since camera control was limited, and the games that allowed you to use the remote for camera had mixed results at best. Unless it was a FPS, of course.
American studio readying a tech demo? Obviously Retro Studios. If anyone can show off what a new console can do, its them.
I just had a scary thought.
Nintendo said they experimented with 3D panels with the GC, but they didn't do it because it was too expensive. It's still too expensive to ship a 3D panel with a console unless its a small screen like the 3DS.
What if the console houses the hardware and it wirelessly beams the game onto the controller which IS the main viewing screen, but in 3D? It sort of fits with nintendo's philosyphy that if you want 3D, everything should be 3D not just for some games for those who can afford the TVs?
I'm having some PC problems, I have a memory stick that isn't recognised by Windows 7. It just doesn't show up at all, no error messages or anything. But then I tried other devices in various usb ports and nothing seems to be detected. What should I do?
It's only when you see it side by side that you realise how its been improved.
If that were the case, then I would not buy their next console.
I am thinking the motion control is all gonna be in your head...
...errr...
ON Your head...!
Like a head-tracking motion device to track vision and then a dual shock like controller for the buttons... and the view-screen!
Built in Blue-tooth device for speech of course!
I don't like the dual controller set-up.
If they can get rid of the nunchuk and the wire between, I am all for it!
I am also prediciting a HUGE push for online and the headset would make sense for that too!
Nintendo has always been about inviting large groups of people to participate, play or just watch... they would never limit a home console to a way in which ONLY people holding a control device could see or play...
The whole cafe concept seems to suggest a group of people together chatting and being social too!
Look at all the social things built into the 3DS!
I'm tired of gimmicks. 3DS does nothing for me, and I can live just fine without motion controls. Just give me a standard/traditional gamepad and HD visuals--on my HDTV-- and I'll be happy, Nintendo.
Nintendo (lately) seems to be about listening to what players want... I think this system is going to be INSANELY robust when it comes to online, social gaming and community building. Headset MUST be considered for speech... prolly a big focus on FPS...
Retro will show Metroid Prime Hunters 2 as it's example of the new hardware at E3... mark. my. words!!
I don't see head-tracking as a gimmick though. What's more natural than looking in a direction...? The whole dual-control, arm-flailing DOES need to go, though!
...and I mean Wii, Kinect and Move in all of that too!
Don't know about the big focus FPS, but I bet they will do better in the online features department. I don't care much about online gaming features except for game demos.
Ewww!
Turn your head, and you can't see the screen anymore. Don't see that as a benefit, really.
I'm talking slight motions... Not looking from side to side!
I think by now Nintendo has refined motion control enough to do read very fine movements...
...or were your referring to the 3DS...?
If we're gonna continue to discuss this, I made a forum topic! I think it'll be fun to track all the predictions up to E3!!
Two months to go!!
Crytek want 8gb of RAM in consoles Say it's the biggest thing holding back graphics
8GB of RAM seems like overkill on a dedicated game console. Then again, what do I know about hardware specs? Nothing, really.
