That looks pretty cool, actually.
How's the questing on Two Worlds II, aggie? Interesting stuff to do?
Yay, the weekend! nyone gonna be in the D.C. area during the end of March, early April?
My gamertag! I guess it's good timing, I can now add a PS3 one.
It's pretty good actually... Most of the game involves combat (meh, that's how every rpg is really, even the story heavy ones) but it's got everything, from funny to serious. A lot of them are pretty inventive in their setting and premise... There are quite a few side quests (not generated or anything, each with their own little setting) and often they feel fleshed out as if they're part of the main storyline, when they aren't. The main storyline also has variety in that certain people you need the help of will ask you to do things for them which in turn enhance the pace so you're not always after the same one thing that you get tired of as their plot lines give a break from that into completely unrelated stuff, for good or bad deeds. It keeps getting better too.
If you try it, stick with it, as the initial sections are a bit crap and generic with few quests I found enjoyable, but it's a long game and it gets real good after the first few hours, after leaving the initial island, and especially when you get to the first proper city (the first settlements are small villages at best). I don't really wanna give striking examples of quests so that you get to discover them by yourself for the first time.
I'm honestly surprised at how good it is (especially since I did actually quit it once based on the initial hours), I expected it to be all about the combat like say, medieval Just Cause 2, but the questing and exploring are simply great. And since it's also actually fun to play (I'm enjoying the combat system even if it's not the most polished) I like it more than Bethesda's offerings, more than Risen, more than even the first The Witcher. It's crazy.
The settings are fairly unique (if you saw me earlier mentioning the tropical island with the feudal settlement) for an RPG. Not just rolling hills, forests, etc. The art is generic but the settings are way more varied and better than something super generic like Oblivion. They've taken hints from other games and genres too. Cities are full of wandering people like assassin's creed which makes it all very atmospheric. You can't talk to most of them, but there are also schedules, so in the day it will be hard to unlock doors to go loot the house without being seen, while at night the homes aren't likely to be vacant. Stuff like that.
It has decent equipment variety, I'm changing weapons and armor every so often. It also makes ALL loot useful, even the same items you already have, as you dismantle them into iron, steel, wood, cloth, etc, that is used to upgrade the equipment you like. But they don't break or anything like Fallout 3, you just upgrade them to have better permanent stats and more gem slots so it's not annoying, just another easy way to enhance your statistics.
I don't know how good the console port is but I'm playing it with the 360 pad and I really like the controls. At first they're weird but soon you discover it has a lot of awesome context sensitive functions that make it easy to do a large variety of things without having to go into menus and changing hotkeys or whatever.
Basically, other than being a bit button mashy (well i'm playing a melee character so what else could it be) and showing that it's a bit low budget here and there (the voice acting, a couple of caves have actually repeated in different parts of the world, but it's not common, the lack of polish in various mechanics, etc), it does all the important things right in my opinion. Surprise hit of the year for me.

I was in downtown Newark today, it didnt look like a complete hell hole. I passed by the Devil's arena. I love the old buildings, we have nothing like that in Miami, brick buildings are alien to me. It wasn't bad weather wise, it was about 50, thats as cold as it gets in Miami, so I am used to that temp.
I finally have some time to relax, I think I have this thing down. And this is when I would get on my PS3...
I guess I can start Chrono Trigger, or watch some TV.
That picture is so true Yoda.
Wow that Arkham City preview is nuts!
Look at that! Yoda is wrong! See the correct spelling above
Celsius sucks, I am not doing a science experiment, no need for celsius. Far more nuance in F.
Please go back to scanning ball sacks and leave the discussions to people that actually know what they are talking about
*waits for Bugsy to say Celsius sucks and we should all use the Kelvin scale.
Hmm a completely general insult, meaning you have no real comeback. HA!
Pfft, who uses Fahrenheit anymore outside of David Cage?
Actually I do, but then you will forget it, and the next time we discuss it, you will again use the same argument. Plus your 'argument' contradicts itself. But whatever, if you insist of using backwards units like feet, yards, and Fahrenheit. Be my guest.
Oh the 3DS comes out soon in Japan! I cant wait for it to come out here.
Well Kelvin borrows the same increment that Celsius used (ie an increase in 1 degree Celsius is the same as an increase of 1 Kelvin but at least it's not totally arbitrary but it's based on the absolute zero for temperature which is more scientific. And since it's a scalar and not a vector it doesn't make sense to have arbitrarily positive or negative values of temperature. Hence ... yeah we have to use Kelvin
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Kelvin sounds cooler too. Celsius sounds like a moma's boy. Kelvin sounds like: "I will do your mama, boyyyy!"
Funny how your game habits change when your life changes. Still will be 3-5 hours be enough for you?
I understand the need to use the metric system, it makes sense. Yes using celsius keeps things simple so that there is no need to jump back and forth. But for normal people, who dont give a crap about freezing shit or needing to do a science a experiment, for anyone that just wants the weather Fahrenheit offers a more detailed description of the temp. Its like a review scale, 1-10 gives you a general sense of where the score is but a 1-100 gives far more precision. Plus it makes much more sense, 100 degrees is really freaking hot, 0 degrees is really really cold. In celsius, 30 something is really hot, what kind of random number is that. 0 is cold but not really that cold. I like Fahrenheit its extremely easy to hear a temp and understand exactly what it will feel like outside. I cant do that with celsius, obvious I can learn it but thats the problem, the system should be easy that you dont need to learn it.
