So our three to four day trickle of NPD begins. Sigh.
Sales of new, retail games in the U.S. for October are ranked as follows:
1. NBA 2K11 (Take-Two Interactive, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, PC)
2. Fallout: New Vegas (Bethesda Softworks, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
3. Medal of Honor (Electronic Arts, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
4. Fable III (Microsoft, Xbox 360) 580,000 units*
5. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (LucasArts, Xbox 360, PS3, WII, PC, NDS)
6. Halo: Reach (Microsoft, Xbox 360) 315,000 units*
7. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft, Wii)
8. FIFA Soccer 11 (Electronic Arts, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, NDS, PC)
9. Madden NFL 11 (Electronic Arts, Xbox 360, PS3, WII, PS2, PSP)
10. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 (THQ, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, WII, PSP)
* - Numbers provided by Microsoft
So I'm surprised by a fair bit of that, but before displaying my ignorance I'll wait for more informed people to comment. I wish they put the release date next to the titles.
NPD and no one has anything to say?
Ripped off GAF:
01. NBA 2K11 (360, PS3, PS2, PSP, WII, PC) TAKE 2 INTERACTIVE
02. Fallout: New Vegas **(360, PS3, PC) BETHESDA SOFTWORKS - 1,117,000
03. Medal of Honor **(360, PS3, PC) ELECTRONIC ARTS
04. Fable III **(360) MICROSOFT - 580K - Second highest individual SKU
05. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II **(360, PS3, WII, PC, NDS) LUCASARTS
06. Halo: Reach **(360) MICROSOFT - 315K
07. Just Dance 2 (WII) UBISOFT - 286K
08. FIFA Soccer 11 (PS3, 360, WII, PS2, PSP, NDS, PC) ELECTRONIC ARTS
09. Madden NFL 11 (360, PS3, WII, PS2, PSP) ELECTRONIC ARTS
10. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 (PS3, 360, PS2, WII, PSP) THQ - 225K

New! 15. Rock Band 3 (All Platforms)
Fallout: New Vegas Xbox 360 SKU Only - 679K - Top individual SKU
Fallout: New Vegas (PC) -- 107K (Retail Only)
Fallout: New Vegas PS3 -- 331K (via math)
Hardware:
Nintendo DS - 342k+
Xbox 360 - 325k, is now the best selling console year to date, only console that's up year over year
PS3 - Under 250k
Wii - At least 204k
Incredible New Vegas sales, especially considering its technical shortcomings. RB3 not charting marks the death of peripheral-based rhythm games. Their murder, actually. Fable III did alright. Strong 360 presence in the top 10. Best selling home system in the US through 2010.
Fallout would have sold if it was a brick wrapped in a case that said "Fallout".
So lame.
Good point on RB3. It was a good run.
Congratulations Microsoft on figuring it out.
Bizarre Creations R.I.P.
I still can't beleive it. Didn't they buy them, like, last year? Geometry Wars, Blur, Project Gotham Racing. Been around since '94 and this is what they get?
Jeez.
Makes me want to get Blur.
Then again, the money would go to Activsion. :X
Looking forward to the review. Expectations are high...no pressure!
If you take Offspring's "yeah, yeah, yeah" song out of Crazi Taxi and "Take me to the FILA store" what do you have?
Nothing.
Picked up Sonic Colors, AC: Brotherhood and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit today.
Sonic is definitely a Sonic game: Speed, skill, color and FUN!
Need for Speed is definitely a BurnOut game: Speed, skill, cars and FUN!
...and AssCreed: Brotherhood... I haven't tried yet!
Geometry Wars Galaxies is the only game I can think of that I kinda liked from Bizarre Creations.
Of those, both Sonic and NFS are on my short list. I did not care for AC1, so I don't see that happening for me ever.
