The hell?
On a San Francisco evening that also featured an eagerly anticipated World Series Game 1 and a Super Mario Bros 25th Anniversary invite-only mixer, Sony bravely held an event of its own to promote the upcoming Move brawler, The Fight: Lights Out. At the aptly titled Mighty club in Potrero Hill, Sony hosted press and special guests for an evening of hands-on time with the game – and yeah, the World Series was shown as well. Sony’s not stupid. Also on hand was Danny Trejo, fresh off his roles in Machete and Fallout: New Vegas, to talk about his involvement in the game...
The rumour is that they are having problems balancing overheating and battery life. I think that battery life is the biggest problem handheld consoles have.
Also:
PlayStation Blog has announced and revealed the contents of the $129.99 Killzone 3 "Helghast Edition." The special collector's edition most notably includes an "authentic Helghast helmet replica" which opens to reveal the game, an art book, and a download voucher. The package also comes with an exclusive 6.5" Cloaking Helghast Marksman action figure. The full list of goodies is inside...
ONM Resident evil 3DS info
The newest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine (ONM) hit store shelves today in Europe, and while there is no real big news there are a few snippets of it for the title. First they confirm that every single playable character from Resident Evil 4%u2032s and 5%u2032s Mercenaries modes are playable in the game (in case you’re not aware, this includes Leon, Ada, Krauser, HUNK, Wesker, Chris, Jill, and Sheva and while we’re not sure if this includes the Mercenaries Reunion characters we do know that Barry and Rebecca are in so Josh and Excella could be as well), as well as the stages in the game being the Eight Mercenaries stages from RE5 and the Four Mercenaries stages from RE4. This will be included with some more hidden characters who have not previously been in Mercenaries (like Claire Redfield), new Game Modes, and some new alternate costumes for the characters (in Mercenaries style having a different weapon set). A smaller but still fine detail is the mention that the RE4 stages may have been made more like the RE5 Mercenaries stages with the different time crystals and more enemies as well as some graphical face-lifts.
REvelations
ONM seem excited as they think Revelations could be the very best Resident Evil game to date, combing and evolving the series in ways to take what works and amplify it. Having a Resident Evil 4/5 camera style while maneuvering cramped spaces in the dark haunted house-like cruise ship, the camera style changes to a first person view when they aim, with ONM also confirming in this mode players can move and shoot while aiming. Given you’re not going to be running and shooting but stick to a crawl as you can allow yourself to pace around as you aim. They also say 3D is one of the best things to happen to horror gaming, there’s nothing quite as terrifying as looking left or right and seeing nothing there only to turn around and see something coming at you in fully rendered 3D.
They also speak a bit how the game is very story-heavy, and their interested to see how a friendship-turning sour between Chris and Jill fares as some initial disagreements turn into distrust which soon turn in suspicion and madness. They also speak that the game uses weather to it’s efficiency, and that the cruise ship they are on is doomed and as the game progresses parts of the ship are getting flooded and torn as monsters break free and multiply. They even hint that this all happens in real-time and not scripted to reaching certain points in the game, so the longer you dwiddle-daddle the worse state the ship finds itself in and the harder it gets for our heroes, with it maybe even including timed events in the style of The Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask where it sounds like the whole ship is screwed and you need to get out of there before time runs out with specific events linked to certain times on the ship. All very interesting an unexpected.
They share 8 reasons why this may be the best Resident Evil yet and a real system seller for the 3DS, check out ONM for the two pages on the game.
The birth of the Xbox article is huuuuge.
This is just a snippet:
1999: The DirectX Box
There were two. A silver X-shaped case, codenamed DirectX-box, is the well-known ancestor of Xbox, but it had a brother
FRIES: “I’d been running Microsoft’s internal game publishing business for several years, and at the time we published games like Age of Empires, and we bought companies like FASA [Mech-game studio, now defunct] and Ensemble, and I guess I just naturally started to eye the console business and thought it could be beneficial to expand into that.
“And then, one day, a couple of guys from the DirectX team dropped by my office, and they said they had this idea. It was called the DirectX Box.
“It was basically a PC running Windows, but they wanted to hide the windows-ness of it. So the Windows OS was going to be hidden, and it was going to be packaged and sold as a game console.
“To image what the early prototype was like, think of a PC with a hidden OS, and putting a PC game in there and it going in auto-install and auto run. So, a little bit like a console.
“It was an appealing suggestion for me personally. It looked like a way for me to get my groove in the console business without having to deal with a completely different architecture, or a completely different operating system. We were PC developers and the DirectX Box by that point sounded great. I signed up, said I would be supporting it, and we took it from there.
“But the first problem we had was that there were two groups inside the company that wanted to make a game console.”
Do you guys think that the PSP Phone and the PSP2 will be entirely different devices? That's the impression I'm getting.
i also got the same impression. they sound more like the sony equivalent of the iphone and ipad respectively though more than gaming devices. i'm still more interested in the 3ds than in either of these machines

Inafune leaves Capcom "I've lost the authority to evaluate my subordinates and the qualification to speak about my dreams"
As for Capcom, Inafune said that he'd reached the highest point in software development at Capcom and there are no additional steps for him to climb. "It would probably be good for me to sit gracefully in this seat and become a leading figure in the industry. However, I cannot do this. Settling down means death for a creator. As long as you are a creator, you cannot settle down."
"Capcom is truly a good company," continued Inafune. "I love Capcom. Probably more than anyone in the world. However, it's not always the case that your hopes are realized. Just as it was with the girlfriend I loved long ago."
"There was a chance that I could continue to be Capcom's power. I bet on that chance until the end. The means of both Capcom and myself to be happy. That was surely possible. However, now that chance is completely closed off."
Inafune also added that there probably won't be a chance for him to work with Capcom in the future. "Capcom must, from here on out, walk without Inafune. I too can not depend on Capcom."
PSP phone sounds more like an android phone where you can probably run downloadable PSP Go games. PSP2 sounds likes its going to be the next proper PSP handheld.
WTF man? Capcom has to look hard inwards and see why their creators are all leaving. You got Taekuchi and the Monster Hunter guy left at Capcom. And Ono.

I'm not really understanding the worldwide 360 vs PS3 battle. A while back we hard that PS3 was in 2nd place. Today's news is that PS3 is roughly 5.4 million units behind 360 and that if the sales rate continues as it is, PS3 will overtake 360 globally by 2012 unless Kinect boosts sales.
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/41563/PS3-could-catch-Xbox-360-in-two-years
I tried Vindictus, that online MMO wannabe (but isn't) hack and slash. It's got a solid game base but needs tons of improvements. I dunno if it will improve where it needs when they're more occupied adding Halloween decorations and having boob size sliders (yes, I maxed it) during character creation instead of doing meaningful stuff.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.

Ummmmm.... yeah that seems logical.
Pardon my grammar. I meant Ono is left at Capcom. Along with Taekuchi and how do spell it - Tsujimoto?
WTF?
I just watched the trailer for the 5th Cell XBL shooter. I expected some 2D retro scrolling shooter and instead it's some high tech HD Gears of War game. The game isn't funny, it's just the furthest thing you would expect out of the Scribblenauts devs.
