I know....but I didn't want to stick with XP in case things started going Vista only.
Rare: "In hindsight, it probably would have been best to scrap everything [in Kameo] and start again. It was a game with a fairy for an audience that likes shooting and killing things. "
No, Kameo was fine. Rare should not have sold to Microsoft. Their games have no place on Xbox.
I was under the impression that Vista performance had improved a lot with service packs. Is it still awful?
I would love to retrograde back to XP. I have a laptop with vista that decides it wants to install updates every time you want to turn it on. It never works, it keeps crashing, the updates take hours, the system freezes non stop. And it takes 20 minutes to boot up. From the time you log on to the time the computer is in a useable start, you might as well start it up, log on then go for a shower and pray to god its working by the time you come back.
Windows 7 is so much better. But now to get the upgrade from vista pack its well over $100.
Look, this is from an actual computer shop front window!
I have Vista, and it works fine. Never had any problems with it. Don't listen to GG when it comes to computers; he runs Norton on his PC!
Two weeks ago I got service pack 2 to install. The warning said it might take over an hour and to not to turn off the power. It shut down, it rebooted, it installed, it shut down again. 4 hours later it finishes. I log on and get a message "Updates failed, now reversing updates" and it spent the next hour removing the updates it had been trying to install.
Last weekend I tried again, it installed, I logged back on to see if there was ANY performance improvement.
There wasn't
Looks like an RTS.

I think Kameo could've sold better if it was on the Wii and with Nintendo's name on it. But that's not saying much because I think the difference would'nt have been that much, IMO.
But in Rare's defense, you can't really fault them for trying. How were they supposed to know that shooting and killing things would be hugely popular for this gen?
But I do think that they made a mistake with Perfect Dark Zero by making it cartoony. It was also rated M, which looked out of place, because the game looked like a T game.

So Warren Specter is saying Epic Mickey is the best looking Wii game? I don't know about that, but I also don't mind if it is. It does have some competition.
But I guess art style goes a long way. Epic Mickey could take advantage of some of the cool art styles from the Disney cartoons.
Oh, and I picked up KH Birth By Sleep. Hope to check it out later tonight!

First of all, GG is NEVER right.
Second, Hamster is ALWAYS right.
Third, Vista must be different in Europe, because I've been using it for two years now, and I haven't had any problems with it.
I think it would have sold a lot better on Wii. The majority of Rare's fanbase is on Nintendo platforms.
Because "shooting and killing things" is all the first Xbox was known for. I don't fault Rare for making Kameo. I fault them for selling to MS. They should have known that going to Xbox would be a bad fit.
I like the cartoony look of PDZ. Most shooters on 360 look the same: brown, grey, bland. PDZ and Kameo sold me on the 360. Sadly, now that Rare are Avatar/Kinect-only devs, my interest in 360 has plummeted.
Well that's a pretty good review for the new Spider-Man game. Not the knock-out that I had hoped it would be, but pretty much in-line with my expectations. Still going to have to wait for another dozen or so reviews to see if the IGN one is just being generous though.
I'm rock hard with balls flailing from side to side.
I never understood why Perfect Dark was rated M (both the original and Zero) while Goldeneye which is the EXACT same style of game, was rated T. Makes no sense whatsoever. Oh Turok 2 was M rated as well....and you spend the entire game shooting dino's and bugs.
Vista isn't that bad for me...just annoying with the constant Windows firewall shit. Its probably worse on a laptop?
