Oh hells no
Look at my Dragon Quest kickn' all sorts of Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Mario and Monster Hunter ASS!
Woo!
...and what? There's 4 or 5 of us here playing it...! How does that make sense?!
Are we in Japan?
No, didn't think so
Vader, you liked the Departed? Why not watch the original?
Though it's at a good price on Play Asia now (19 Euros).
I rented Samurai Warriors 3. It's such a simple, flawed, archaic game. But somehow so fun and compelling. Try it. And do try different characters, some just plain suck, while others have awesome moves and make it all better.
Annoyances:
Simple combos. Start with light attacks, end with a different strong attack special depending on how many light attacks you did. You can't just choose to do the strong attack you want for a situation, you always have to start a combo. Blocking also seems useless. My character blocks once and staggers, then gets owned. I never use it.
Samey bosses. So far, just humans, basically the other playable characters, with the same moves you can do, so not too exciting. I think only the last boss in Murasame Castle is something different to the usual fare.
Crowds of enemies will sometimes keep spamming you, making it impossible to do a combo you want as you stagger. I think, but I'm not sure, this can be reduced with certain characters and some armor upgrades.
Murasame Castle mode has many annoying spammy traps and some annoying layouts and objectives.
Online works surprisingly well, but is restricted to Murasame Castle mode, which has those annoyances. Blah!
The graphics are very low tier PS2 like.
Flawed controls. Movement is weird. Animations take priority over actions *worse* than Monster Hunter, in a way it doesn't feel natural, unlike that game. Camera control is nonexistent with the remote controls, and shitty with the Classic Controller. I'm still fiddling trying to make a comfortable control setup with the latter.
Good stuff:
Plowing through crowds of enemies, taking out half dozens or more every few hits, killing the odd leader or boss causing them to start running away as you destroy their numbers, upgrading your (possibly newly found) weapons and armor pieces between levels, and leveling up your characters gaining new combos. Making a custom character for use in most of the modes outside story. It's also cool to keep unlocking new characters to play as, and also unlock their weapon type for use with the custom characters you can make.
Overall, it's much more fun than I expected, especially now after I chose a different character who has awesome moves even when you do the short combos (the last I used only had decent moves after doing many hits, so with the enemies interrupting my combos in tougher difficulties I often didn't get the chance to actually do those moves, annoyingly enough), making it a bit easier to not get stunlocked and stuff. I dismissed most previous Warriors games as repetitive crap that haven't evolved since Dynasty Warriors 2, and while that's probably true, it's quite compelling. Finishing a level after killing like over 1000 troops and several leaders, completing most of the objectives, and gaining tons of XP and crystals to upgrade your stuff with in the process feels very satisfying.

This may be the FIRST 3D Mario game I actually FINISH!
my progress is sort of similar to yours in terms of total stars, though i haven't played it at all in over 2 and a half months. i will go back to it after the summer though as i've kind of missed it

WHAT. HAVE. YOU. BEEN. PLAYING?!
For me, I've not beaten anything again this week
Playing Turok on PS3. It is a good game except the check pointing is stupid and inconsistent. Some times it will roll you back to before you beat an objective. So you beat and objective, there should be a checkpoint AT LEAST. Plus it's difficult, but "normal" is the lowest level. So you put these things together and I get the idea that they were insecure about the length of the game. Which they shouldn't have been - it's an otherwise good game.
FF3 continues on DS.
I get the idea that it's going to be a browser-based / facebook type game rather than a successor. You can move your existing character into Next if you want though.
I'm sure they'll be careful to take care of the existing players.
I just started gaming again for about the first time in 2 weeks. Burn-out is over, but the new problem is I don't really have much to play (big convention is less than a month away so no spending on anything that isn't food or a bill). But I did play my VC copy of SimCity and it's tough to go wrong with that.
What I'd really like to play right now though is Dragon Quest VIII, but I can't. And for that I'd like to say, fuck you again to Sony for not being able to make a console that can last over 4 years.

This stage, literally.
Fought the Garth Gargoyle (again) today, too!
And, a smidge of this. **Deciding if I am going to keep it or not**
You should definitely keep it! It's a good game to have in your collection.
