...and here it is:
The black Wii console, which we already knew was coming, has today been officially revealed by Nintendo of America. It'll still be $199, and include not one game, but two.
Along with the Wii console, controller and nunchuk, the new Wii pack will include a Wii MotionPlus accessory and a copy both of Wii Sports and its sequel, Wii Sports Resort. We knew this too, but still, confirmation is always appreciated.
This price and bundle deal will extend to both the black and existing white models of the console, with the new pack (and black Wii) going on sale on May 9.
Straight from the mouths of Nintendo themselves:
NINTENDO TO INCLUDE WII SPORTS RESORT, WII MOTIONPLUS WITH ALL NEW WII SYSTEMS
Starting May 9, Wii Hardware Will Be Available in Black or White
REDMOND, Wash., May 3, 2010 - A great value in video games is about to get even better. Starting May 9, Nintendo will add new elements to the baseline Wii™ system package offered at retailers throughout the Americas. In addition to the intuitive, motion-sensing Wii Remote™ controller, Nunchuk™ controller and popular Wii Sports™ game that currently comes standard with each system purchase, every new unit will now also come packaged with Wii Sports Resort™ and the control-enhancing Wii MotionPlus™ accessory. In addition, consumers will be able to choose between two color schemes for the Wii console and included controllers: original white, or a new black option. The U.S. suggested retail price of the new system package will remain at $199.99. Pricing outside the United States will be established by the local markets, but offer similar consumer value.
"Nintendo leads the way in delivering rich motion-control gaming experiences at an accessible price point," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "By including even more of our top-quality hardware and software in the basic Wii system package, we're extending that commitment to entertainment and value. Now more than ever, consumers can count on Nintendo to deliver inclusive fun and advanced motion controls at a mass-market price."
Wii Sports Resort expands on the active-play fun of the original Wii Sports, with resort-themed activities such as wakeboarding, archery and swordplay. What's more, Wii Sports Resort features the rich control enhancements of Wii MotionPlus, which allows users to dive in and enjoy precision motion-control excitement right out of the box.
Wii MotionPlus has set the standard in precision motion control by delivering an immersive, social experience unavailable on any other system. As of May 9, when both the Wii Sports Resort game and a Wii MotionPlus accessory will come standard with every new Wii console, people who purchase the system can experience this leading-edge video game technology from the moment they plug in and power up.
Previously unavailable throughout the Americas, the black version of the Wii console will offer all the groundbreaking features and functions of its white counterpart in a stylish new color scheme. Whether they aim to color-coordinate with other devices or simply love the way it looks, consumers throughout the Americas can add a black Wii console with matching black Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to their home entertainment lineup. Additional black controllers and accessories can be purchased separately.
The Wii system launched in November 2006 and continues to attract millions of new and experienced gamers with its intuitive motion-sensing controls and inclusive game offerings.
Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about Wii, visit Wii.com.
There's no automatic right to bear arms here, if there is violence it's isolated and usually knife crime. No mass shootings, very few gang shootings and usually in specific areas. Alchohol related violene is a problem. Lots of drunkards late at night.
Wii version of the first Trauma team was more accurate than the DS game to me. And the controls allowed you to easily select tools with the nunchuk. Slicing feels better on DS though. Control can get wiggy around the edges of the DS screen.
I nicked those pics from a feature I saw.
Sing it, sister!
I've been playing it all weekend. It's much better than I thought. Now that I finished it and actually went back to get all the coins and find all the secrets. Challenging, but fun.
Not bad. Certainly a step forward for the Quebec team after mostly PSP games and Cranium Kabooki. Nice impressions on Conviction, Trackmania and co. I can't quote them, but I enjoyed reading them.
This is the same bundle they did in europe, instead of giving us the price cut the rest of the world got. The only downside is that by bundling two games, then perhaps people delay buying new3rd party games. You could probably live off Sports and Sports resort for a couple of months minimum. For casuals, even more.
I see what you meant Agnates. A lot of games on Dolphin run without some key effects. You get sharpness, but lose the mist, lighting and fog which masks flaws and makes thing pretty.
Batman XXX - A PORN PARODY
So with the price drop in Au and the new package deal in the US ... have any of you even considered getting a second or back-up Wii?
My Wii has had so little use/ combined with Nintendo's good hardware and backward compatibility record that I'm not going to get a second Wii until the very end of the cycle (if at all if the next one has BC as good as the Wii).
Someone make a fully featured frisbee game, please. I play this a lot in resort.
Whenever I put a disk in and get an error or hear the noisy whine of the drive.
Are you sure about that? I've read several cases where people claimed their Wii broke and Nintendo transferred the old VC games to the new one.
I thought Nintendo would only transfer your games to a new Wii if they give you a replacement console, not if you bought one from the store? At least that's what the Nintendo reps have been saying officially.
This game looks really fucking good. It looks like Monolith are puting more effort into this game than ANY other game they've done. Its nice to see Wii getting these 2 big RPG's (Last Story). With how popular the system is you'd think it would have been the RPG king for years now...its too bad its taken this long. More games like this could have made it the hardcore system of choice for the genre.
Yay! My monthly box of media arrived from the states:
That actually looks nicer than the game itself, which looks a bit blurry and murky to me.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
The character looks alright (but a bit washed out) but the enviroment looks horrible to me.
It looks pretty good for the Wii though. On my TV the environment looks blurry and fuzzy. It's kind of disappointing because I was expecting the best visuals on the system since Iwata was saying how the Zelda team had a lot of catching up to do in matching Capcom's efforts with the game.
That HD filter makes it look clean. I would love to play it like that. I was actually expecting something like that. The current setting with my component cables hurt my eyes. It still looks good but I was expecting better since the PSP version looks really clean.
