I just made a Super Mario Galaxy 2 thread at GS in an attempt to get some excitement going for that game. If I can make that thread 1/10 as good as GG's Galaxy one it would be great. But NO ONE CARES. Sad

The GGD is so sad now, it's as if the Wii does not exist on there. I am sure when Galaxy his the thread will be fine but it won't be anything like GG's old threads.

The voices are totally cringe-worthy, but you know what? They fit the game perfectly.

That is not a bad thing in the least though!

I have no way to describe this game and do it justice. There's simply NOTHING else I have played to compare it to!

I haven't even come close to fighting a battle yet. At this point I don't even know how important the battles are going to be to the game!

This game is an indescribable sum of many seemingly un-relate-able parts that all seem to work when put together.

The voices are pretty terrible, but they remind me of an Anime brought over to America: cheesy as all hell, but you are so glad to be able to even just watch the anime itself, you don't care!

The cut scenes are done in HUGE, BOLD, in-your-face Anime style. Colorful, over exaggerated expressions on the characters faces, music that screams "ELEVATOR" at one minute, 1920's New York in another...

Speaking of which, I love the idea the game takes place in New York City. You are part of a battle unit whose HQs is located beneath the "Little Lips Theater..." Ummm... Wha...? Don't question! Somehow it just works! Mechanized Warrior Battalion under a Theater on Broadway? Yup! Love it!

Playing the game so far is like reading a digital comic, but you HAVE TO pay attention! There will be times you are asked to answer a question, and you are either timed --OR-- you have to measure out your level of excitement in answering the question itself. These are almost like conversational tree, quick-time-events. If I understand correctly, your interactions with other characters in this way is what Levels them up!

I made it to the first Save Point and stopped cause I know as I play more I am going to be overwhelmed with alllllll the unique aspects of the game to the point where I won't be able to describe ANY of it!

It's over-the-top, It's quirky, It's unlike anything else I have ever played. I LOVE IT!

*Don't ask me why, but the digital comic aspect of it reminds me somehow of Snatcher for the Sega CD, which, in itself, was a gaming enigma... Maybe it's the fact that they are both games that you would never expect to see outside of Japan. Maybe there's something to the graphical environments and presentation of the game? I dunno yet what it is exactly, but that is very good company to share a spotlight with!*

phantom_leo said:
^ I find it very jarring that you (the main character) speaks in the cut-scenes, but then in the conversations, the OTHER person speaks, but you are silent...

...I guess they HAD to do it due to the multiple answer options, but I thought the sound had dropped out and there was something wrong with the game at first!

I've played about an hour. Haven't fought a single battle yet. Just getting to know the members of the New York Combat Revue (LOL!)...

Truth be told, I haven't read the manual; I have NO idea what I am doing... and I am still having a BLAST! It's such a unique experience!

I've explored the little area around my apartment in the village (!), ran to mid-town to the scene of a robot attack, but didn't get to see anything, just got questioned by a reporter. I watched a Broadway Musical, put on by my troop. I rested in Central Park for a moment and got to ogle Gemini, another member of the troop with the Wii-mote pointer... she frowned when I looked at her boobs inadvertently.

It seems most of the team members HATE me right now and forming relationships is going to be difficult. I don't know yet if this is just the normal course of the game or if it is based off my decisions so far... Relationships are KEY, it seems, cause in battle good relations lead to special Team Attacks...

I'm not minding it right now IF I am messing up my game, apparently it is ridiculously re-playable, so right now I am just having FUN with it!

As a final note: Yeah. Some of the voices are GOD-AWFUL... Again, I don't mind it in the least though. They don't take away from the game in the least!

Meh, Riddick would have all these for breakfast. True most of Diesel's movies suck (hate the likes of XXX and Fast/Furious etc) but Pitch Black/Riddick were more than enough to put him among the greats tbh, more so than the likes of Statham as much as I liked Transporter. Can't wait for the third, I hope it doesn't meet more production troubles. And what of Damon? Also mostly suckage but Bourne alone puts him above plenty.

You have to be roughly facing an enemy from what they said. So just like you'd press "up" in 2D Metroid, you'll press "up" in 3D metroid to shoot at an enemy coming not from above, but from "further in" the screen and "Down" to hit an enemy coming not from below, but from "out" of the screen. And anyway enemy patterns and challenge will be built around the autoaim Nyaa you couldn't auto aim in 2D zelda either but you got the lock on in Ocarina, Metroid Other M doesn't quite go that far, even though Metroid Prime actually did and people love it Nyaa

Oh I get what you are saying, that would be pretty cool to shoot along that axis. Is it called the Z axis?

Bourne's great and would probably kick all their asses. But he's not a manly action star, more like an office worker who out of nowhere pulls off ninja moves. Grinning I really don't know how Stratham became this action star, doing all these dvd releases and jet li team ups.

I got some good news today. Nintendo has repaired my DSi for free. Apparently it didn't take long since they got it yesterday and just emailed me that it's on it's way back now.  Needless to say I'm quite happy.

I was so happy when they repaired my wii for free out of guarantee. I lived with the red and green dot gpu thing for well over a year.

I must of missed it. Did anyone take a screen capture?

NEW RECORD

It's 8:20 am and I've been up since 2:40 am.

Because of this:

On the other hand it let me catch up on Red Steel 2, as I can't sit or lie down.

Before I was like.... yeah it's good, great graphics and controls, gameplay. But not blowing me away or anything.

Then I hit the night town followed by train fight, new enemies, old dusty town and new enemies and set pieces. I got new moves, upgraded my suit. Finally got into the swing of things, control wise in terms of doing special moves. Suddenly they throw you into a few new setpieces, have these damn chain gunners with sheilds. And fuck Grinning

So much fun. Throwing someone up in the air, dashing up above them mid-air and smashing them down is so cool. I was in the groove last night, taking down fools left right and centre. And the smaller, twisty turning ghostown somehow felt better and more appropiate to the game compared to tech heavy caldera.

The aiming is sooooo smooth. I really don't like western movies but this game really gives you this kickass feeling of being a gunslinger, holding the remote at your hip, the way the gun twirls in your hand and you get that pinpoint accuracy. I was grinning the whole time.
