Wow, Gamestop has already dropped the price on Street Fighter IV (360/PS3) down to a measly $19.99 new. I guess it doesn't have legs, huh?  It's funny that Gamestop's Pre-owned price on SFIV is still $34.99. LOL

No real shock.  Fighting games have been like this ever since Street Fighter II hit the SNES.  For people who aren't into plaver vs. player competition these game don't have the longest lifespan.  Plus the secondary market gets so flooded with trade-ins, new copies just can't move.

Pity it never hit the Wii.  I never got to tear shit up with Vega... assuming he's even halfway decent to play anymore.

in europe i think it kept its price for longer than a lot of other games usually do.  you should definitely get it for $20 if you have even the slightest interest.

it not being released on wii was what made me get a ps3 sooner than i thought i would.  by the way there is really no legit reason for it not being released on wii.  oh well

It stinks. No two ways about it.  Controls aside, there's just nothing about it thats actually fun.

1 bad sport out of 12 isn't bad at all.  That's not including the different gameplay variations.

I'm just not into fighting games like I was 10 years ago. It would most likely just sit on my shelf collecting dust within a week. Besides, I hear the standard 360 controller awful for playing SFIV. Sad

I'm surprised that I'm saying this, but 3v3 basketball on WSR is a lot of fun, and I hate basketball.  Ninty could flesh this out and make the ultimate bb game.

Most reviews hate it so I'm suprised to hear that. I just watched the gametrailers review. Cycling looks crap. The air sections look fun, really Piolitwings has to happen now, especially if they want to use this Wuhu island concept.Nyaa

Cycling is also fun.  It takes a little strategy figuring out when to casually pedal, when to drift, and when to take it as fast as you can without tiring out.

I've been impressed with every game, except canoeing.  It's much too difficult.  That game is a little better suited for co-op.  The skydiving bit could be fleshed out more too.  Once you open your parachute, the game is over.  I want to be able to control that too, maybe aim for targets.  I can't believe Nintendo didn't put that in.  There's always Pilotwings.  Could you imagine using a jetpack with the nunchuk and Wiimote?

Yeah I love the idea.

Would canoeing work, say like in Twilight princess when you went down the rapids?

Hey, I just saw video footage of GAFs Paedobear in action:

http://gals.dancingbear.com/db4991-2/vids/01.mpg

 LOL

What the hell was that?

GG reckon Overworld 2 is worth picking up at that price or should i just leave it and get LKS later for about 5 pounds more or whatever it is? Unless LKS is on sale at Zavvi too...

What he said.

Overlord Dark Legend is a steal at that price but LKS is miles better. I find Overlord pleasent to play because of the lovely art and fantasy setting and because its not hard. But like I said it just doesn't have that extra something to make it special. It's competent and enjoyable and everything works. It has a few technical issues here and there, but nothing you can't get used to.

It's mainly the first two areas with a sluggish framerate and some bad pop up. There are 16 areas of the map in total. I'm just past the gingerbread house now and most of the others areas have been okay. The indoor levels have a perfect framerate. I was in the boss chamber and it reminded me of metroid prime. These guys have great artists working for them. The use of colour is memserising.

EDGE mag reviews

Wii Sports Resort (Wii) 6
Battlefield Heroes (PC) 5
Rolando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid (iPhone, iPod Touch) 9
Trine (PC tested) 7
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (360 tested) 4
The Punisher: No Mercy (PS3) 3
A Witch's Tale (DS) 4
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor (DS) 8
Droplitz (360 tested) 5
Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (PC tested) 6
Blueberry Garden (PC) 5
Madballs In... Babo: Invasion (360) 7
Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled (DS) 5
Bit.Trip Core (Wii) 7

"Sports Resort is controlling, and even solemn, about just how much fun you should be having with it. And that's a development that should chill every Wii owner to the bone."

"Hopefully, the long-term free-to-play model will mean significant evolution, but Heroes isn't yet a convincing call for conscripts."

"Judicious fiddling has seen the Rolando series move from smart delight to genuine classic, then: the best platformer on iPhone just got better, and there's still no sign of any meaningful competition."

"Later levels increase the difficulty by featuring more traps, more angry undead, and by spreading the checkpoints further apart. Should one of your characters die in these harder challenges, you have two more to lose before you're reset to the last checkpoint. This provides a buffer against some of the normal frustration of platform gaming, but also creates instances where the only sensible move is deliberately killing yourself. Come to lava with only the knight and you might as well toss yourself in. In spite of such minor niggles, Trine entertains in either mode; as a co-operative puzzle platformer or as a singleplayer action platformer, it's a charming jaunt in both."

"Blueberry Garden is a curiosity worth looking at, and hardly the worst way to spend half an hour, but its accolades are baffling: any number of indie platformers offer tighter, smarter puzzles and more solid craft. The combination of gentle exploration and ambiguous purpose - and its perplexing collision with knuckle-rapping time-pressure - may be enigmatic enough to create superficial allure, but further inspection yields few interesting answers."

Presenting E205 and its cover star, Rage, id Software's first new IP since Quake. On sale in UK shops on August 3rd, but being delivered to subscribers right now.

The masters of Doom finally show off to us their new game and new engine, both of which represent big changes the legendary developer is undergoing. No longer concentrating on one game on one platform at a time, id has designed Rage and id Tech 5 to be multiformat, and just downstairs from Rage's development team, another is working on Doom 4, while another tends to Quake Live.

Not only that, but the studio, one of gaming's most storied independent developers, sold itself to Bethesda's parent company just days after we visited, and then there's the little matter of Rage being not only a classic id-style balls to the wall shooter but an open world adventure complete with driving and RPG elements. We have the full story behind this spectacular new game, complete with interviews with co-founder John Carmack, CEO Todd Hollenshead and designers Tim Willits and Matt Hooper.

Included elsewhere in the issue, we meet Heavy Rain creator David Cage for an in-depth interview, take a long, deep look at Kodu, Microsoft's game-making software for 360 and visit the set of Syntax Era, the BBC's new drama about the battle between Sir Clive Sinclair (creator of the ZX Spectrum) and Chris Curry, the man behind the Acorn, for supremacy of the home computer market of 1980s Britain. We also examine the present and future of 3D graphics and find out how Blitz Games is aiming to smooth out the road for indie developers with its 1UP initiative.

  • Read most of that Red Steel 2 preview.  GG there will be a wmp bundle (hopefully in europe too) so if you don't fancy any of the current bundled game you needn't buy a lone add-on or get a game you're not sure about.
  • Nice that white knight 2 is planned.  being a big level5 supporter that is always good news to me.  do we even have a date for a translated version of the first game though?
  • There was a funny one in the comments section of that ubisoft article on piracy... "Imagine: Piratez"
  • Shadow Complex devs copied super metroid ... i say good on them, more people should learn from the masters.  this has a good chance of being a really good game.
  • Cursed Mountain still looks kind of promising.  i'm hoping something to remind me at least in part of eternal darkness with thibetan lore in the place of lovecraftian mythos
