Rage runs at 30 FPS on PS3; 60 FPS on 360 and PC

That sucks for PS3 owners. Clearly Micro$uck paid id Software off! Nyaa

"The PS3 edition was thought to be the most technically capable of the console pair, thanks to id being able to squeeze the gigantic shooter onto a single-player Blu-ray disc, compared to Xbox 360's four DVDs."

WTF? Four DVDs?! GASP

Hmm, I wonder if we'll be able to install all four DVDs to the 360 HDD?

Oh crap. I think I'd still take 60 fps over one disc any day of the week.

That really is strange. Id was complaining about the 360's disc space but it looks like it actually runs better on it?

Looks like the PC version is the definitive version.

Oh yeah, also, here's some cool news!

MS and Ubisoft re-shelled the price for TMNT Turtles in Time Re-Shelled from 1200pts ($15) to 800pts ($10!)

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/100/1009409p1.html

In other words, PICK IT UP!!!

TiT is 800 points?  Good news.

I posted both the Rage and LBP stories, haven't had a chance to watch the trailer yet for LBP PSP.

Rage though from what I remember way back is that they didn't want to compress their textures for the engine, that's why there is so much data and it takes up 4 DVDs. It could be like a 6-8 hr game on 4 discs.

Damnit ASK, no date for Endless OCean 2 in Europe Sad It's out in a few weeks in Japan Sad

Friday updates? Iggy is back! Grinning

Okay did some updates.

I just read that Monster Hunter 3 has not only shipped a million but the game had a million pre-orders making it a million seller before it even released. But importantly, no home console MH game has ever sold as well before. So Capcom have to be pretty happy. Their sales expectations are 2 million for this game, as their financial report says.

Hey ASK, why not just import? All games are region free right? Oh but DSi ware games are region locked to the shop.

Plus, import systems cost more! There's this anime store near my house and they sell tons of great imports. But they're a bunch of rip-offing thieves! Their import white PSP was $350 and their Japanese DS Lite's are still sold at $250.

Not worth it just for color.

i'm suddenly feeling some love for my psp in anticipation of Little Big Planet, MGS Peacemaker (or whatever it's called), gran turismo psp, and jak and daxter ... even dissidia may be good.

i haven't finished a game on it since god of war.  resistance retribution came close but it got so repetitive that i just lost interest.

dvader it may be worth your while getting one now.  it's built up a nice collection of worthwhile titles ... and i know you are secretely dying to play little big planet and the metal gear solid games at lease Nyaa

Can't you order online for cheaper prices?

Best thing to do it wait it out and get it once PSP2 comes out. By then all the games will be cheap to pick up and you can get a cheapo 2nd hand system on ebay. I mean, seeing how Dvader wants but doesn't want a PSP.

The PSP is awesome. I love it. And bugsonglass, you forgot to mention SoulCalibur Broken Destiny and Tekken 6, which are two of my most anticipated games this year! Just thinking about playing a console-quality SoulCalibur on a handheld is making me drool! Can't wait till' Sept!!!

And to GG. Yeah, I can order online, but I don't trust some sites. I think Play-Asia is the only place I trust but they even have higher prices for imports I think.

Anymore opinions on this one? Are there any open world GTA style games on Wii? I know that Rabbids Go Home is open world. This looked sort of fun to me, I like the mario kart style, they were going with their own twist and seemed to be putting in Mii and WiiConnect24 functionality. I would have enjoyed this, assuming the celeb parodies were decent.

Pandemics cancelled Wii game trailer

The next big thing EditDelete

Anymore opinions on this one? Are there any open world GTA style games on Wii? I know that Rabbids Go Home is open world. This looked sort of fun to me, I like the mario kart style, they were going with their own twist and seemed to be putting in Mii and WiiConnect24 functionality. I would have enjoyed this, assuming the celeb parodies were decent.

i think it may have had potential.  however i'm not sure if being "the next big thing" is enough of a goal for a video game.  it would be like doing gta like missions but without an actual plotline.  may have got old pretty quickly

Got to tell you I'm shocked that MvC2 is scoring so high.  I don't think it scored that high when it was on systems 10 years ago (or however long it was).  The fanboy in me always enjoyed seeing the characters, but this game has the depth of a half full baby pool.  There just never seemed to be that much challenge to it.  I dunno, maybe that's just me.

Gameshow concept to become famous and doing stupid stuff. I guess it would have to have some subplots including the celebs like Mr T sending you on missions and stuff.

I cant remember which one I had on the Dreamcast. Fun game. I hate the whole super massive move they started introducing into one on one fighters. Building up this bar and unleashing this screen smashing move. I want to win on my skillz, not massive moves.

Valve wonders if the Wii could handle Left 4 Dead gameplay photo
     Valve

High Voltage's The Grinder has effectively been labeled as "Left 4 Dead on the Wii," focusing as it does on co-op undead shooting action. High Voltage definitely wants to bring that kind of game to the white waggle box, but when we asked the Left 4 Dead developer how it felt about The Grinder, we were met with what can best be described as hopeful skepticism.

"I'm very interested in social gaming. Left 4 Dead is social gaming," explains writer Chet Faliszek. "One of the reasons why we're on Steam and Xbox Live is because those platforms deliver that, they deliver hooking up with your friends. I have no idea how you'd do that on the Wii. I mean, I can be sitting there, watching Netflix on my 360, I see a popup saying that someone online who I know is playing Left 4 Dead, and I can go join them. How am I doing that on the Wii?

"Left 4 Dead couldn't have existed ten years ago without the technology to hook you up with your friends as easily as we do now. Even QuakeWorld, when that first came out it was this huge thing because you could hook up with any stranger, but it still didn't let you connect to your friends and there was a lot of work on that and on Steam, we had a lot of iterations of friends lists because it's not an easy problem to solve, there are a lot of things to want to do right.

"I don't know if those other platforms are doing that yet, so when I see a game coming out like that on the Wii, I just wonder, 'how's that gonna work?' Best of luck to them, that's totally cool and if it's a cool game I'll definitely buy it and figure it out, but I don't know how that works. I think it's hard to discount how powerful the Xbox Live community and Steam community are."

It will indeed be interesting to see how well The Grinder fares on Wii. The Wii's interface may be able to handle the gameplay aspect of a co-op shooter, but the social aspect is indeed a crucial part of Left 4 Dead, and if you can't easily hook up with friends, there won't be much point at all. We'll have to see how it goes.

Excellent icon BTW.  Nice to see you've become a disciple of the one true mustache.

And Scribblenauts already has my preorder.  Must-own game, plus we get a free chicken hat with the preorder.  How can any rational person pass on that?

I read this and kind of thought, "what a dick."  They keep focusing on how friends meet up to play the game with one another.  That's great and was really well done, but even if the Wii's method is much cruder it doesn't really affect the gameplay now does it?

I just have this feeling that Faliszek really just wanted to come out and say, "no fair they're copying our idea!!!" but that complaint got thrown out the window as a legitimate gripe in gaming about 20 years ago, so now all he can do is focus on one core aspect.

Still I have little doubt that Left 4 Dead will be the better game, even though the Grinder looks like it should be a lot of fun.
