Excitebots is looking more and more like Nintendo's answer to Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, If this game doesn't have it's own design your Bot mode it will have been a completely wasted effort, but after looking at the box I can't see how it wouldn't. It's begging for it.
It would be cool if the cars transformed like transformers.

Excite Truck is third on my favorite Wii game list. I absolutely loved the game, and have spent at least 100 hours playing and replaying it. That being said, I have my doubts about Excitebots.
I really hope I'm wrong, and Excitebots turns out to be a great game. But from the boxart and description, it sounds like they turned Excite Truck into a weird Mario Kart clone. That may not be a bad thing considering I love Mario Kart (which is second on my list), but I'm afraid they've turned it into a "just of kids" mini-game compilation; and that would be very dissappointing.
Having never played the game, this always baffled me. Whenever I go to GAF I see huge threads based on Excitetruck love. Can you explain why? At launch most reviews said it was great, but too short and should have had an online mode. All the other Wii racing games where I've had to lean the remote left and right have failed (apart from Warioware Smooth Moves minigame)

Right on Inafune, you the man! I'm also incredibly thankful he talked Capcom into that route. Capcom's a very big reason why I'm loving this generation so much. I look forward to more greatness from them. A RE2 remake would totally rock. Please make it happen.

Yeah, that feature could work well in the game.
What about transforming bots? You can turn into a bot for rough terrain and blast shit too.

LOLOLOLOL, it has a laser sight.
Aren't they a little late with this? There hasn't been an RE game that needs this for about a year and a half now.
Look at the picture with Leon, the nunchuk hangs off the front? What?

It's one of those games that takes a while to get really good at it, but once you do, it's an absolute blast to play. I don't get the whole "it's too short" complaint either. I think the reviewers didn't play the game all the way through because there is a lot stuff to do and unlock in the game, leading to a TON of replay value. As far as the Wii remote controls, I love steering racing games with it, and both Excite Truck and Mario Kart have excellent controls. If you don't like controlling MK with the Wii Remote, then you probably won't like Excite Truck.

But Excite truck always looked more OTT which maybe suited the controls more?

Got anymore salt you want to rub in?
SUCKA!
Oh I gots me truckloads of it baby!
Nay, I'm not trying to rub salt in anyone's wound I'm just stating my appreciation to Inafune and Capcom for supporting my preferred system.
Well, after resizing those pics to double, it seems that all of the gameplay of Excite Truck will be in this game, only even more over-the-top. According to the article, the Bots adds a lot of originality to the game, and made it more fun to play.
I hope this is all true. I want to see some videos . . . NOW!

Good work GG
Now it my turn to do the updates!
OTT? I don't know what that means.
Over the top
Thanks! I can't seem to keep up with all the abreviations these days.
GG, MK and Excite Truck are both OTT. I feel that the controls work equally well for both games.
Nay, I'm not trying to rub salt in anyone's wound I'm just stating my appreciation to Inafune and Capcom for supporting my preferred system.
Yet you're still a SUCKA!
Look at this, Terminator Salvation trailer:

I've only played a little bit of Excite Bike, and I never saw any of those mini-games. I haven't played Excite Bike 64 either.
If Excitebots is a fun racing game, then I'll certainly buy it.
Meh.
Well it looks like I won't even be renting Matt Hazard. Oh well.
I guess I better pick-up a DSi as soon as it hits the shelves because Nintendo says so. That's a surprise.
I thought you already had a DS?
