Pretty much. Whomever does the best job at forcing an image down people's throats and brainwashing them. Sony and MTV have to be 2 of the best ever at it. Though I don't know what happened to Sony...now they're just crazy.
Its dumb as a stump. For some reason though, battles are still fairly tough when there's a lot of enemies.
I'd like to blame someone. But... it just is.
I think it's word of mouth.
What's this? The updates have been done and with Iga nowhere in sight? It must be the silent ninja updater. And what's this? Who did all of Thursdays updates too? It must be the Tenchu ninjas doing their business.
Assholes.
Oh man, the eternal Wii debate rages on. I have to muster up the energy to respond, but not now. We have this little roundabout every few months right? Like since 2006? Oh shit And even back in time to PS1 and N64?
Archangel pretty much said it all: Different strokes and we'll never agree, nor do we have to. But yeah, I can complain if I want to and cry if I want to
Yeah so the game at times presents you with say a set of 25 different dialogue choice lines in sets of 4 lets say. And it's trial and error trying to link them together to achieve success and move forward in the game. So you try line 1, then in set 2 you try line 3 and fail and then repeat. It's like manually trying to crack all the codes on a padlock with 999 combinations. And episode 1 does this twice. It's shit.
The first 10 minutes of episode 2 are better than the whole of episode 1 so far. I like having all the episodes on one disc as I can see what they are doing. Ep1 they set up the office and street, episode 2 you already have the hub there and go to new locations and so on and on with the later episodes.
I don't know why, but this cracks me up. I mean seriously, what?
Anyhow I played my new copy of this last night:
The Darkness.
Hmmmm. Played about an hour. It feels like, well like stuff I've played before alot. It kind of feels like a first person Max Payne at times. The aiming is far too loose and character movement floaty. It just doesn't feel very substantial. I played Condemned so the world feels very similar and it looks like a lot of other games. It has a lot of Riddick moments, the ladder climbing, filter effects etc. The character shadow is hilarious You have these awesome visuals and your main character's shadow looks like its an N64 model block.
It's a good game, kind of. Just feels like apart from the graphics this something I could of played on Xbox 1. The darkness powers sort of threw me back to N64 perfect dark remote cam. This is nothing new really. Still, I hope its story becomes more substantial. Really the only real problem is that going back to dual analogue after so many Wii FPS is painful and couple that with a tiny dot crosshair and floaty loose aiming, its combat doesn't feel that great.
So I have a question. The darkness said to hide in shadows and it recharged you or something? I've been shooting out lights, but dont see any sort of recharge or health bar recharge or whatever?
Gamespy DEADLY CREATURES REVIEW
Lets skim this:
Fantastic graphics and animations; superb sound effects, music and voice work; brilliant level design takes advantage of main characters.
Disgusting main characters might make your skin crawl; motion control recognition sometimes shaky; occasionally flaky camera.
Deadly Creatures sports rich gameplay in the form of numerous and varied attacks for both of its multi-legged protagonists (a tarantula and a scorpion), as well as some clever mechanics specific to each arachnid. Thoroughly enjoyable despite of (or perhaps because of) its creepy subject matter, Deadly Creatures wins on several levels and is easily one of the best third-party games available for the Wii.
4 and a half stars out of 5.

IGNs BEAUTIFUL OCEAN (Endless Ocean sequel) wants
Expanded Online – Four Player Support
One of the must-have additions to Endless Ocean 2? Four player simultaneous diving. The first game was a blast with two (even though you couldn't properly communicate; more on that one later), but with the simplicity of the gameplay and pretty "low intensity, low interaction" nature of it all, we don't see why you couldn't go crazy with more friends in one game. Even stopping at four players would really be cutting the game short a bit, as something like Mario Kart, which is infinitely faster and more complex, could handle 12 connections at once. How about a little open world diving?
Likelihood: For four players? It could happen. A whole slew of divers at once? We wouldn't expect it for Endless Ocean 2.
On the mission side of things, Endless Ocean will of course bring about more unique areas (the Atlantis-like underwater temple from the first game was great… as was the sunken ship). Deeper missions could take things even further though. Imagine if you could work in real-world challenges, such as repairing damaged oil rigs with IR-based underwater welding, could actually salvage items from sunken ships for wealthy backers, or had the opportunity to try out state-of-the-art equipment for limited time during specific trials (perhaps controlled by the Wii system clock?), such as a suit that allowed you to walk on the bottoms of the deepest, otherwise unreachable trenches. We're down for a lot more of that.
NOM REVIEW skim throughs
DEADLY CREATURES
Putting the future of THQ's hardcore Wii offerings in the hands (or, rather, pincers) of some of the most revolting, unlovable protagonists we've ever seen in a videogame smacks of insanity. Will anyone be able to stomach it? Well, we sure hope so, as THQ have delivered a genuinely interesting and really enjoyable experience.
Visually, this is one of the Wii's finest looking games and you can tell that a lot of care has gone into polishing the title. The game's dank tunnels, slimy bugs' nests, spiky cactus-filled canyons and run-down shacks present a unique setting for a game and the environments drip with atmosphere. Rainbow Studios have absolutely nailed the sound design too.
It's no classic but Deadly Creatures is a really enjoyable, original title that deserves to do well.
8/10
HOTD OVERKILL
"Did they really just say that? That's, ummm, a brave move." These thoughts continued throughout the rest of the game as we got progressively more surprised by what we were seeing and amazed at what they were getting away with, right up to the ending. THAT ending.
Developer Headstrong has done everything in its power to extend the game's lifespan though, and it's succeeded as well as it could have. The levels are also substantially longer, taking you to newer (and at times grimmer) areas. In all, it's about a third longer than the standard mode. What's more, if you manage to complete the Director's Cut you then unlock another nice feature that makes the action even more enjoyable.
Overkill decides to instead place its tongue firmly in its cheek and be as cheesy, hammy and tasteless as possible, basing itself on the low-budget grindhouse drive-in movies of the 1970s.
It's really refreshing to see a Wii game that's clearly had a lot of work put into it. You can tell that the developers really care about entertaining anyone who plays Overkill because every single aspect of the game is of an extremely high quality.
House Of The Dead: Overkill is everything you could hope for in a lightgun game. It's frantic, it's hugely satisfying and (assuming you're a high score chaser) it'll last you ages.
9/10
Awesome. New pics in the MH3 thread.
Still can't be bothered to reply to the eternal Wii debate yet. Just scanning through the
NPD analysis.
Food for thought?
Microsoft was proud to point out that sales of Xbox 360 in January grew to 309K, a 33 percent year-on-year increase and a record for the month.
Greenberg insists that Xbox 360 is “mainstream,” and he may be correct, but perhaps it’s Nintendo in this generation that has the best understanding of the term. The Wii’s 679.2K sold is a 148 percent year-on-year spike. Nintendo boasted how while the total industry in January grew by $150 million, or 12 percent, the company’s own total sales grew by $300 million, “offsetting declines on other platforms.”
Speaking of declines, the PS3 to be the only home console to report a year-on-year unit sales decline for January. Unit sales for Sony’s flagship console dropped 25 percent.
Last gen you saw GC 3rd party support dropping, when its sales were only 18 mil, compared to Xbox's 22 mil. This gen the PS3 would logically be the platform receiving less support due to sales. Instead because the most popular platform is underpowered and because game budgets are so astronmically high, you are seeing them making builds on PC even. Last gen when did you ever see console developers doing high profile PC builds? It was only PC devs doing Xbox builds.
It be like dem crazy-ass Grindhouse flicks. You be shootin da shit out of bitches. You be cappin red-necks. You be blowin da limbs off phat-asses. All while you goin tru crazy ass areas like mansions, hospitals, strip clubs and shit.
You don't jus blow holes tru dem liek you used to. Nah, man. You be shootin dem in the mutha-fuckin head and watchin it explode in a cloud of mutha-fuckin blood mist! KA-BLOW, Yo!
You gots your gunshops. You gots these little green floatin' shit dat slo down time when you shoot dem. [Go for da head, yo!] You shoot dese little floatin' brain icons... Why? HOW THE FUCK SHOULD I KNOW MUTHA-FUCKA?!
Crazy-ass bro named "G" says they ain't "zombies." He say they "Mutants." What the FUCK does "G" stand for anyway, Yo?! What-eva, man...
You go on dese blood-lust rampage joints where you score big-ass points. Use dose points to upgrade your gunz and shit. You better be rackin up dose points cuz if you play wif your mutha-fuckin-bruthas, if one of yoos dies, you gots to spend dem points to continue, yo!
Why am I talkin like dis? Jus PLAY THE MUTHA FUCKIN game, yo, and you see why! Don't MAKE me slap you, bitches!
Yeah I agree with what you say. My problem is that publishers decided back in 2005 where their resources were going to go and in 2006 they decided that Wii Sports types games were all the system could handle, rather than looking at Zelda or Metroid. They didn't support the system from the start and say, hey that's not working, they didn't even try. Their presumption from the start was: here, this is what the audience is getting from us - they defined the library themselves, they didn't try and actually see what the market would respond too.
If they had made proper, decent hardcore games from 2006 to the present day there would be a larger existing market for those games existing today. But it's also like Iga said, I don't care if Epic or Bethesda say and think, "Wii is nice but we are concentrating here instead". It's when a publisher like Ubishite foists a whole hunk of steaming turd on one system, making cash cow amounts of money from it and then putting all the good stuff somewhere else. Or like Capcom with its (counts carefully) 5 last gen ports and 1 current gen port.
Keep the Tenchu impressions coming. The music is amazing from what I've heard, just fantastic in the trailer. Acquire aren't the greatest with visuals but it looks like they did allright.
Dead Space Xbox 1 LOL. I guess that's probably the reason its coming to Wii, they had a good chunk done already on Xbox. That said that footage looks reaaaaaaaally good considering the system.
I just watched the X-Play video review. And there was one line which, I don't think I should be laughing at but I LMAO. I feel like getting the game for that one bit.

DEADLY CREATURES HANDS ON GONINTENDO
(Mainly talks about audio)
From artwork to interviews, trailers to behind-the-scenes mini-docs, Deadly Creatures looked like a title that was dripping with quality. That’s why I set aside some time last night to pop the game in, and I was absolutely floored with what I played. Quite frankly, I think Deadly Creatures presents a level of atmosphere that hardly any other games have even come near.
I am blown away by the audio in Deadly Creatures. When I saw that IGN scored the ’sound’ in Deadly Creatures a 10, I knew it was going to be something special. I can’t gush enough about just how well the sound has been designed. There are very, very few games that really make me believe their surroundings. While the level design reflects real-world environments, it’s the sound that makes them fully believable. The ambient noises and other subtle audio cues really put me into the game.
All of this audio elements come together to create one hell of a compelling game world. I can’t even remember a game that conveyed its surroundings with such convincing audio. The atmosphere that’s created by the ambient soundtrack and creature shufflings is staggering. Trust me, you need to just stop playing from time to time in order to take it all in. Spin the camera around slowly, look high and low, and realize just how convincing this auditory presentation is.
NGamer DEADLY CREATURES review
It doesn't help that Mr Stingy's moves have more in common with WWE than Life In The Undergrowth. Tail spins and pincer karate chops clash with Rainbow's realism remit. And the attack and damage-taking animations are too rigid, with last-second blocks almost impossible once the poisonous pugilist is in full swing. These moves are silly without looking brutal or exciting.
Rainbow are far better at incidental pieces of level design: crawling across a sleeping man's boot, traversing an abandoned truck or seeing a bloke's arm hanging into a level like some alien totem. Saying that, the climax - basically Shadow Of The Colossus meets, well, Dennis Hopper - is a must see.
We know that game development isn't handled chronologically, but it's almost as if Rainbow learned what they were doing as the levels passed. Sadly, this means ideas from the dump-o opening third (scorpion combat, the brown colour palette) hover over the whole game like a foul smell, but fresh ideas do arrive. Not a great game, but it creeps into some interesting places. What remains a hard sell is an infinitely easier rent.
6.8
Weird review, the only complaints are that combat moves are like WWE and that its brown??
Wow those are fantastic scores for Street Fighter IV and Halo Wars. Sweet. I'm so looking forward to getting those games. Fear 2 got very good marks as well. I really enjoyed the demo so it's certainly a game on my 'to buy' list as well. Kind of disappointing score for Star Ocean 4 but it's not terrible either plus from my experience it seems like JRPGs have been getting underrated, Lost Odyssey being a very good example, so I'm still planning on grabbing this game.
Edit: Those pics for King of Fighters XII look fantastic. Please let there be a console version for it real soon.
SFIV got a 9.5 from IGN too I think. Who is your favourite character?
