ok so i've only just partially recovered from three days of jetlag after connecting three flights for a total of 14 and a half hours in flight within the space of 24 hours. i have yet to recover my luggage which was left behind at Charlotte international (thank you USAirways and Lufthansa!!)... oh and my mobile phone just went and died a completely random death for no apparent reason and with absolutely no explanation. (takes vow never to buy nokia ever again ... ever)
will go out as soon as i find the strength and hopefully before the end of the week to get me the new final fantasy tactics and the new trauma center (when is that out exactly?) which should keep me company for most of my days here in the US.
until then i'm enjoying New Super Mario Brothers for the Nth time.
i have mixed feelings regarding the news this week:
elebits DS - yeah i agree it should have been a proper wii sequel, but the ds is the most convenient thing for me for the foreseeable future, and it could still be a good game, so i don't know.
chrono trigger - yeah i agree it's a ripoff to just port an old game when such games are now normally offered on outlets such as the virtual console, but still it won't cost more than what people pay for old cartridges of it on ebay. and i have never played it before and i might as well on the DS, so i think i'm more happy than not about this news.
castlevania wii - no mixed feelings about this one. please someone get konami off those drugs or this will be ridiculous.
oh and personally i have just today found out about diablo III (as i already said i have been comatose for 48 hours at least). blizzard are like london buses. how many years of begging for a new starcraft and a new diablo? new pc for me for christmas confirmed.
i think i read in the 1up article about it being confirmed that it will be a port and not a remake, so i think any possible update will be minor enough to ignore, or just purely optional like for example stylus controls
"Update: Square Enix made the news official this morning, adding that the DS version is "remastered" with stylus controls, wireless play, and a brand new dungeon."
From the original story, though, they say, "And it appears to be a port of the original game, not a remake."
I don't know how you all keep managing to post emptily when there's a check to make sure there's something in your name box before it will post.
I do and at times the same things happens.

Just got online and am seeing the aftermath of 2.4.
Last night was so great, the PSN became a community, everyone messaging each other, everyone having a great time getting trophies in Stardust.
Now this, it seems to be very isolated but poor Edge is one of the few that is just doing what Sony makes him do, to update the system and its their screw up that cost him his PS3. What a mess. I feel bad for you Edge. Don't pay a cent, and you better get all your saves back.
Looks Zeldaish, looks good. But I want a true Wii sequel.
Damn it when can I update the news, this stuff is big.
EDIT: Beaten. Raven is on top of things.
This is why we need a schedule, otherwise there is going to be a ton of overlap. People have to stick to their days and cut off points in time terms.
Bear with me, rragnaar hasn't showed his pale ass around here in a while and I need his details - PM him if you can.
Then I'll get the days sorted. So far I have myself down for a full day, Iga too. You guys might be difficult given the time difference so either me or Iga may have to do a couple (no more than 3) early morning updates till you bounce online. Then obviously you guys can update whilst we are offline late night/early morning.
I think a cut off point is important so there is time for a few stories to build up for the next updater to work with. Then once I have the timings/days down I have to arrange things with Yodariquo so we can shackle your balls and not have them splurging all over the place.
Don't worry, that was cause it was here on these messages, if it was update above in the news section I would have seen it. Don't worryabout overlap, unless two of us are doing links at the same time nothing will happen, even then we just delete the later one.
"Users found that removing and reformatting their PS3 hard drive and then reinserting it into the console would get the system to boot completely, after which it asks to reformat the disk again and everything runs normally. Of course they lose all of their saved games and have to redo all of their downloads, but I suppose that is better than sending in the system for a $150.00 repair."
I wonder if this how Sony will fix this problem when people send in their PS3's?
How exactly do I reformat the HDD if I remove it from the system? I'll try it if I can, I don't care about a few saves.

Holy Shit! How dare I miss such a legendary thread.
That was one of the last truly great things at the Gamespot GGD.
THEY DIDN'T EVEN UPDATE IT! Damn them.....lets compare it to Oblivion.
He could have at least compared it to like....the original Elder Scrolls. Sure, completely different games...but at least they were around the same era. But no, lets compare a SNES game to the hottest new game out right now.
Edge, to reformat it you need another PS3 around, it really is a horrible solution.
BTW when you restarted your system over and over how did you turn it off. Did you use the switch on the back or hold down the power button?
I held down the button for 10 seconds....50 times.
The system turns on, the music comes on and it says Sony Computer Entertainment.....then at that monent right before all the menu stuff comes up, nothing happens. Its just that wave thing in the background. I've also tried unplugging it and whatnot.

Ok good, you did it the right way. Nothing to tell you, it probably is a HDD issue unless you can find a place to reformat it, send it in. Odds are you lost everything. If I were you I would be so pissed fire would be coming out of my ears. I feel for you.

That sad thing is....this coupled with the 360 problems have me just feeling like this whole generation is a joke. My god....a console update breaks my machine. What the hell is that? This is why consoles are supposed to have all they need, right out of the box on day fucking 1 for its entire lifespan. Updates should NOT be in the equation. They're becoming so NOT user-friendly, that the whole pick up & play thing is being thrown out the window.
My consoles are giving me more problems than my PC. What a mess. A day that should never have come.
Consoles are slowly becoming PCs thats the issue. Its going to be the same next gen. Firmwares are here to stay and sadly firmwares cause screw ups every once and a while.
^^^Took the words from my mouth. This is exactly why I REALLY dislike the direction Microsoft and SONY are taking console this generation. What's next? We actually have a controlled OS's? Differently speced SKU's? Manually install games for different SKU's?
I've never said a good thing about patches. Arguments such as "do you rather have a broken game??" are pointless. If the game is broken, it doesn't deserve my money. I'd rather they release something that works. Forcing an update to play a new game is obnoxious.

Maaayyybbbeee... Force Unleashed. I've never been a big Star Wars fan.
[I probably won't play any of these right away, as I am still happily chugging away on TWEWY and FFTA2, but they're still must buys for me!]

I am sooo sorry Edge. After the GTA IV fiasco, I know what you are feeling. There are times I want to throw the PS3 and Wii out the window and be perfectly content with my DS. Solid state game carts, no downloading/firmware updates AND you can play online. Funny, the DS seems to work absolutely fine and it never was "updated."

Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
The thing about Chrono Trigger to me is that it's probably going to be an "updated" version, making it assumedly much worse than the original.

While it's possible they may not be modifying the main game, they're obviously tinkering in places. To what extent is the question.

Home consoles suck.
