Topic Stolen from The Verge.

My most memorable unboxing was the Wii. They had gone all-Apple with a very thoughtful package design with little compartments in Tiffany blue.

It was also such a different console, I just didn't know what to expect.

I think I'd go with the DSi. It was all packed so perfectly. I kept pulling out more little items. First the DSi. . .  then this giant manual. . .  then some other documentation. . .  then the charger. . . and it went on like that. After a while i was just confused how they crammed so much into such small packing so perfectly. Plus as a bonus I had forgotten about half of its features existed when I bought it. So as I looked at it I thought, "there's a camera on this thing?? Oh yeah. . . hey it comes with an SD card? Whoa. . ."

System-SegaDreamcast-02.jpg

Easily the Dreamcast for me. That was the last time I really felt like a little kid opening presents when it comes to game consoles. I think it was just the fact that SEGA was going all out with the system, and it was such a huge leap over everything else at the time. Plus, I had never bought a SEGA console before....Genesis was my brother's system and we never got the Saturn. I also had a feeling this may be SEGA's last console, so it had a certain aura to it, like it was a piece of gaming history. Really awesome.

^ Well he took mine. That was probably the last time i had that same giddy feeling, plus at that time it was still a gift. Now I just buy everything myself, the effect is not the same.

I'd go with the Wii as well.  It was the first console I bought myself, so that was part of the whole trip.  This was with Yarco as well, so the whole thing was us standing in line before the store opened on day 1.  Bringing it back setting things up, seeing how tiny and shiny it is, then playing Wii sports for hours.

Probably not gaming related. As far as gaming is concerned...

I can't really pick from any console. The Wii was probably the most interesting, if only because of all the hilarious safety warnings it came with. Otherwise opening any console's box and setting up the console has been an excellent experience. The least interesting one was probably the N64, though. Boring packaging, no demo disc, just the console and a controller. MEH. PS3 would have been equal if not for all the planning, and the globetrotting involved in getting it.

My favorite unboxing had to be my first game console, an Atari 2600 (Vader) similar to the one pictured below. I recieved it on August 28, 1982 as a birthday present. Happy

The Wii for me as well.  Similar experience to Yoda.  Went to the shop with my best buddy.  There was a little pile of Wiis.  I bought one, along with that mini-game compilation which came with a wiimote, and Zelda: Twilight Princess.  We unboxed it at his place and played Wii Sports for hours.  Then I packed everything up the way it was and did the same thing again over at my place.  Very happy times.

Probably the SNES because it was bought for me when I was young. Now I can afford my own consoles it's not as special, back then it was like whoooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, a SNES this is amaaaaazing!

And it came with SMWorld the bestest launch game evar.

In terms of just boxes, probably Wii as it had really clever box design.
