180 hours sunk into the original Pokémon. I don't think I've ever eclipsed that really.
For me its hands down EverQuest. I played it off and on for around 3 years, and even spent a month revisiting it around 10 years later. I while I was never super obsessed with it, I have to assume between all of that there was at least a 1,000 hours on it.
In the world of non-MMO games:
- Dragon Warior 7 - 240 hours - I played through the game twice, each time going 100 hours, and I've tried it a few other times usually giving up due to losing a save or because of a bad scratched disc that would inevitably freeze up.
- Harvest Moon (SNES) - 200 hours - I played through the game four times (average running play-through time 40 hours), and have messed around with it a few times since I was introduced to it in the late 90's.
- Azure Dreams (PSOne) 150 hours - It took me 10 years to beat this game. I started it off and on, and would always die, lose everything, swear off ever playing it again and delete my saves.... and ultimately restart it again a few months or years later.
- Dragon Quest 8 - 120 hours - Two play-throughs and one false start.
There's probably a lot more games that hit over the 100 hour mark if I think about it. God only knows how much I played Street Fighter II back in the day. It's got to be in the 300 hour range, not even counting the later iterations of the games. Mario Kart Wii and Splatoon easily have a couple hundred hours too.
Over 100 hours into every Mario Kart starting with Double Dash. Same with Excite Truck and Wave Race N64&GCN
Jeebus, you guys play games for long. I think I played 'only' about 120 hours of Splatoon myself. As for Mario Kart 8, it was a great game, but I found that I didn't actually play it all that much. Sure, I did all there was to do, but didn't feel the urge to keep on playing it.
Probably PSO 1 and 2 at like 350 hours. star Wars galaxies I put well over 150 hours. Zelda BOTW is one of the biggest, 150 hours. Big RPGs like bethesda game stuff I put close to 150. Destiny I have played for like 250 hours but that gets new content so it seems not the same. With replays a played many zelda games for over 200 hours.
There are quite a few games over the many years that I've put 100+ hours into. Some of my more recent ones are:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Final Fantasy XV
- Gears of War 4
- Halo 5
- Forza 6
- Xenoblade Chronicles X
- Diablo III
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III
The hours have been building up for Halo Wars 2 and Mass Effect: Andromeda and will in all likelihood pass 100 hours as well.
Super Smash Bros. on the N64 my friends and played it practically every day for multiple hours a day from 1999 or 2000 until we all got Gamecube's in 2004.
That is at least 1,460 days; if we played 12 hours a day it would be 17,520 hours. I'm not sure the exact number of hours we played but it would have to be close to that number.

It was probably like that during the summer but we were all in school back then so we couldn't have played it for 12 hours a day during the rest of the year probably only 3 hours, 4 hours at the most.

Almost 1.5K hours on Rocket League
Now we know where you disappear to.
The longest time I've put with a single player campaign is probably Zelda BOTW with about 120 hours. If you count the time spent helping my son play then the total may be closer to 200 hours. I've probably sunk 150 hours into Uncharted 4's multiplayer.

Holy crap! Good to see you back here though
Thousands of hours of shared between RuneScape, Ragnarok Online and Gunbound and Killzone 2 and Halo 2. I regret nothing.

Now we know what you've been doing.
Halo 2-3-Reach has to be well over 1000 hours.
My roomate in college and I collectively on his steam account had 300 hours on Team Fortress 2, and I played a really good chunk of that 300 hours.
Ridiculous amount of time in madden and melee as well. Unreal 2k4 I bet I had like 100+ easy.
Dark Souls 1 I have over a 100 hours.
And then I don't really know the hours, but I've replayed these games a shit ton of times: Bayonetta, Metal Gear Solid 1, Resident Evil 4, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Doom 1, Tales of Symphonia, Donkey Kong Country, Arcanum, Star Fox Adventures, and quite a few others.
As far as current day shit where I can track how many hours I have in a game on my own accounts. I have 96 hours on MGSV, but Bayonetta and Witcher 3 will pass it.
On PS4 - Bloodborne I have close to a 100 hours or more. Nothing else I've really played that hard.
On Xbox One - I've got about 77 hours in Halo 5
On 3DS - *sigh* I have like 200 hours on Pokemon Y
WiiU - I had like 60 hours on Bayonetta 2
I never kept track of this stuff so I'm only guessing I've poured ~500-750 hours into all of my playthroughs of Ocarina of Time over the years.
I'm certain I've poured 1, 2, 3000 hours into all the Guitar Heroes and Rock Bands over the years as well. Time well wasted.
The highest I've tracked would be the 127 hours spent in Skyrim, and that was simply the PS3 base game, no mods or DLC. Maybe someday I'll return, I loved that game.
Oblivion used to be my benchmark. I played it for 100 hours and at the time thought that would never be topped. Twilight Princess first run through to 100% took me 60 hours another benchmark. Since then there are other games I have played a lot more. What are yours?
This is what I can remember off the top of my head.
