I feel it's more valuable and irreplaceable to me as an experience (even if there are those who say that you have nothing to show for it save for snapshots).  To me experiences and memories are priceless.

I feel this way about going out drinking/clubbing, I feel like I have spent money for nothing.

It depends.  To a large extend you are right, but I've had some incredible nights out in my time.  Well worth the money spent

Yep that was very special indeed!  Cost me close to a year's wages before it was all said and done!  And a week and a half in hospital.  Worth every penny Sad

Wii U GamePad technology is more advanced than you think - Michel Ancel

Rayman Legends chief gives the Wii U controller the thumbs up

Of all the Wii U games confirmed so far, there probably isn't one that uses the GamePad better than Rayman Legends. Perhaps one reason is because Ubisoft's Michel Ancel loves it. Indeed, he thinks it's even better than you think it is!

Ancel eulogised about the Wii U controller in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, saying that the main reason why developers are able to use it for clever ideas in games is because the response time is so good. In fact, he thinks, Nintendo's rivals have something to worry about.

"I think this is where Nintendo is really out in front of things," said Ancel. "The technology inside the controller is quite a bit more advanced than what people might think. It's really responsive The response time is crazy, in fact, and I think the competitors will need some time to [get their solutions] this responsive."

He added: "It's crazy because the game is running in full HD [on the television], we are streaming another picture on the GamePad screen, and it's still 60 frames per second. And the latency on the controller is just 1/60 of a second, so it's one frame late. It's crazy, it's so fast. It's almost instant. That's why it responds so well. So it can be used as a real game-design thing."

You guys need to check this out.

60FPS Nano Assault Wii U video

Right click, save as. Use VLC or GOM to play it, windows media player probably wont work. VLC is smoother, on GOM it judders a bit.

http://www.nanoassaultgame.com/neo/video/shinen_nano_assault_neo_trailer1_720p60_8mbit.mp4

The devs have said they rendered the game world twice, once for the TV, once for the pad for two player and it runs at 60 FPS on both gamepad and TV simultaneously. And, this is the important part, they said they are only using 20% of the Wii U's power.

Pretty cool.

Those are horrible pictures, GG. Nyaa

did the video get taken down or sometihng?

Obviously Wii U has more vibrant colours, and is slightly more detailed so it's not as if they're just messing with the colour settings, but I think that the subtler (read: washed out) colours fit the art style better.

Conclusion: they're kiddifying Call of Duty for the Wii U!

The video looked a lot better; they've been captured horribly there.

But yeah, still didn't look great, it has to be said.

It's a youtube video, small quality video someone has blown up near full screen so it's easier to see differences and screencapped. The game obviously looks better than this. It's just showing the difference between a comparable scene. Should be interesting to see the Digital Foundry teardown.

I think it's more detailed, quite a bit but it may just be that the image quality is so much better (clearer) because of the 32mb of eDRAM.

Nintendo Land

The games in the left column are both multiplayer and single-player. The middle is multiplayer only. The right is single-player only.

Question to GG. So what will you be doing on the 18th when us NA guys are playing the system. Are you going to be eating up impressions from everyone, asking us a bunch of questions. Are you going to get angry and bitter like I do when I cant get a game I want early.

I know what I'll be doing. I'll read some impressions, respond with "Cool. Look forward to getting one myself in the future.", then I'll go back to playing Halo 4 and/or Black Ops 2.

Or both at the same time while drinking Mountain Dew.
