Tim Burton's films have pretty much been crap ever since he decided he would just do his "interpretations". Planet of the Apes, Willie Wonka, Dark Shadows, etc. Its been a decade since he's done an actual original film.

Corpse Bride was pretty good. I also liked Sweeney Todd and the new Alice in Wonderland.

I thought this was an original film when I saw the first trailer until I read that it was a soap opera. It looked so crazy, such a great idea that i was getting Beetlejuice vibes but then I saw it was an adaptation.

Planet of the Apes destroyed Tim Roth's career. Sad

Should have gone with Harry Potter. What an idiot.

Tim Burton's films went downhill since he married Helena Bonham Carter and had children and became happy and fulfilled in his personal life.

Tormented artist = potential to create masterpieces.  Contented artist = meh

... And that's my theory Grinning

Buffy season 7 is better so far, funnier, less grimm than season 6.

WTF are they doing to Spike though? He was one of the best characters and now he's just a mess.

Finished Buffy season 7. It was really good, why can't all the seasons be like that?

It was consistent the whole way through except for the crappy Warren episode.

Andrew was hilarious, new characters were cool, ending was great though I don't see whey they had to kill u know who X2.

British slayette died? Sad She was so cute.

Saw Prometheus and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Scott's vision for this movie is amazing, such a beautiful film to watch, to get lost in. It was so classic sci-fi where most of the enjoyment comes from simply discovering things in this cool other world and with new technology. Its no Alien but still a great movie with some great performances, especially Fassbender. There is one scene in particular which is just wow, you know when you see it.

As for the question is there a xenomorph in the movie...... kind of you see the birth of a prototype like xenomorph.

Saw Brave, not Pixar's best but still a very good movie. I was kind of surprised at how simple the plot was. It felt more like an old school Disney movie than a Pixar film which is fine by me since I love old Disney movies. It has all the elements you expect from a Pixar film so all fans should go and check it out.

Been watching Angel the first 4 episodes. It's decentish.

Lacks a  bit of personality compared to Buffy so far but it's more consistent so far. Without some of the other characters like Buffy, Xander, Giles etc some characters have nothing to bounce off of which make them a bit limp.

Also near the end of Smallville season 3. Apart from the whole Lana BS the show is really good and compelling. It's hooked me and it's a good show to watch. The first season is mostly some random high school guy gets superpowers due to meteor rocks and in swoops Clark. After that crap is over the stories get more compelling with the whole luthor story and more.

Yeah definitely go see Brave. Its much more formulaic than most Pixar films but the chatacters are as good as ever. Oh and even animated Billy Connolly is still a god.

I saw Spider-Man, it was really good but I still say the original was better. What this movie gets right is the action, Spider-Man moves exactly like Spiderman should. Garfield does a great job being a cocky Spiderman but he actually doesnt say much when in costume, which is weird. The love story is handled well but it is very teenage drama like, which is what the origin story is supposed to be like. Speaking of which its the origin stuff that kind of bogs things down. As much as they try to make it seem like they are doing something different this movie hits all the beats the first one did but the original handled them better.

There is a lot less joy and playfulness in this movie compared the Raimi films. Spider-Man should always be about fun, adventure, he is the complete opposite of Batman. The Raimi movies were geniuenly funny at times and yeah a bit fake, like it took place in a made up comic world but that is what Spider-man should be like. Not all gritty real.

It was cool to see the Lizard on screen but wow his character arch is all over the place. He switches motivation on a dime and has very little time to share any of his reasons for doing what he is doing but hey he looks cool. That is one thing I must say, this movie looks damn good, I just wish the story was better. Oh well they are setting it up for a series and if they do the Stacy story right it will be very dramatic.

Why rebbot spiderman? Pointless. Only Spiderman 2 was actually good.

I started watching Let the Bullets Fly last night. It sold out in the far east, was never released in Europe so I had to wait and import it from america of all places.

The trailer and title have you thinking its some slick action movie, then you start and the first half hour is a clusterfuck farcical comedy mish mash.

You spend the first half hour or so thinking "this is going to be shit" but it's a 2hr 12 m film so you stick with it. And it does indeed bed down and get a lot better once a certain character dies and kicks in a game of wits between rival warlords. However it does not appear to be an action film and is dialogue heavy and more interested in the mind games both rivals get into and the games they play.

I can't really explain what is so clever about it without revealing some important plot points, but it can be very clever and has a few spots of mega-black comedy, one which had me laughing in shock at how outrageous it was. One weakness so far is that it seems that a lot of the scenes are overplayed and could be done in a much slicker, more subtle way. In some ways the excessive dialogue and overplayed scenes are reminiscent of a Chinese Tarantino film, only more convoluted and not as slick. And it still retains that slight element of Chinese farce which sits uneasily with the western pallet.

I still have about an hour to watch so I'm hoping it has a strong ending as the reviews were quite good and it's got me all over the place so far as to whether the whole thing will come together in a satisfying way.
