Across the road on the corner about a month or two ago several people painted a full wall in broad daylight on a building site, completely visible to the intersection. Didn't look commissioned, and would be an odd place for a commission.

Whenever I've seen his truck, there's always been a book in the cabin; this goes as far back as me being tall enough to see into the cabin. Usually it's a biography as it was this time, but sometimes it's a novel.
I'm going to finally be able to see two of my favorite bands of all time saturday night, thrash gods SLAYER and thrash pioneers King Diamond, in the 3rd fucking row at the Xfinity Center, which is the big outdoor arena for concerts around here. The best part? ITS FREE!!! This dude I work with knows someone who works there and scored us tickets....I am fucking stoked!
Been wanting to see these guys forever, I mean they've been around since the early 80's so to be able to see them before they end up retiring is awesome. This is indeed, a small victory.

I once got to see KISS play, Smashing Pumpkins opened for them. It was a Halloween concert, so the pumpkin thing was kind of a nice touch. (The reason why this is relevant, is because never in my life as a kid did I think I'd see KISS perform live).

That's pretty neat. My brother who is like 10 years older than me, got to see Kiss when he was a kid, back in the late 70's when they still had the makeup on. They were a huge influence on most of the people who grew up in that era. And Smashing Pumpkins I've always liked...they have some great songs.
Watching those I forgot how much I love metal. Which when matched against every other aspect of my life is richly ridiculous.
I saw The Smashing Pumpkins at a (relatively) small theatre in London. The sound was inexcusably bad. I was also not altogether convinced they could even play their instruments very well. Obviously a studio creation by Corgan. There were people outside offering big money for a ticket, I so wished I had sold mine.
Also saw Slayer many years ago. Jeff Hanneman was still alive and was exchanging solos with Kerry King side by side throughout the gig. Ayala was on top form as well. This was some kind of Kerrang magazine line-up. Also saw Sepultura that night, it was shortly before Max left. System of a Down opened up the gig. It was before they released their first album and not many knew them then but they played very well.
... I also have a small victory. Last night I went to a gig where a good friend of mine was DJing. Huge soundsystem. But ... I remembered to take my earplugs with me for the first time since I bought them (two years ago?). They saved my life. So no ringing sounds today and no headaches (and no added long term hearing damage and loss - of which I have plenty already). Small victory indeed! They are staying permanently latched onto my keyring from now on.

Saw Smashing Pumpkins at Lollapalooza many years ago. They were the headliners and they were horrible. Like Bugs, I wondered if they could even play. The sound was over distorted.
the Beastie Boys played right before them and were the highlight of the show.

So Smashing Pumpkins are one of those groups who aren't as good live as they sound in the studio. There's so many groups like that. Of course today, they can make ANYONE sound good in the studio so you never know about these new groups. But I'm not that surprised about SP, the type of band they are and obviously they're not incredible players but Corgan has that ability to write good memorable songs.
On Jeff Hanneman, yeah it sucks he won't be there. I always thought he was the better guitar player in Slayer too, while King got all the glory just because he puts himself on a pedestal more. But, they have Gary Holt from Exodus taking his place. And Holt is probably the most underrated guitarist in thrash metal. So that's a hell of a replacement.

Try good quality ear plugs; you can still hear low volumes with them, so you could use them for everyday wear without having too much trouble with conversations etc.
