The next few weeks are going to be insanely busy for me, so it look like a few blogs are about as much as I can muster around here for a bit.  But I did want to share some updates of mine with my new PSP.

Overall very happy with it, particularly at the $110 pricepoint I got it at.  The only real disappointment I had was with the PSN Store only offering crap.  Of the 82 games they offer, there's about 4 I wanted. Seriously, with a library of over 1100 games I was expecting to see more than 82 games.  People give Nintendo shit with the VC all of time, but this is pretty much inexcusable.  And since I bought this primarily as something to play PSX games on
I had to make a choice.

So yeah, my PSP has now been modded.

I need a bigger memory stick though.  With only 1 gig there's not much I can't store too much at once, though it's really not a tremendous issue.  Right now the only gamess I want to play are the PSX ones, though I did throw a GBA emulator on it for the hell of it and surprisingly enough have found myself playing a lot of Pokemon Emerald.

And as far as the PSX games right now I'm enjoying Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Breath of Fire IV, and Tactics Ogre which I'd forgotten was ridiculously hard compared to the much more user friendly Final Fantasy Tactics.  Not sure how long I'll be playing that one.

Well it is true I'm bringing down the system by downloading games that are 10+ years old.  But I think I'll dodge those million dollar bullets so long as I don't try to distribute any unreleased A list titles.

Let's use our sophisticated tracking system and get the reward money of reporting him to Sony to enrich the site! We'd still have Dark Robio so it'd be worth the sacrifice.

OK, to make up for derailing this, what makes Tactics Ogre so difficult?  I haven't played any of them.

Difficult may not be the right word. "Frustrating" might be more accurate. It has a very poorly implemented control system. It's very tough to get accustomed to it after so many more later strategy games figured out better ways to do it.

Plus the game actually requires you to do quite a bit of grinding to get you characters up in level.  They call it "Training" but it's just another way to say grinding. It kills a lot of fun and momentum because you never really have anything at stake in these battles, but you have to do it a lot to keep up with the real enemy battles.

Yeah I'm quite happy with it, and I was very on the fence about the decision and wasn't entirely sure it was the right thing to do even once I bought it.  The DS certainly has a better library, but this system has a lot of capabilities so it more than makes up for that.

i am sometimes constraint to handhelds for long periods at a time, and i think it may be the same for you so it is certainly worth having both the psp and the ds.  even though i play my ds a lot more of the time over the psp, it is still well worth having and compliments it quite nicely

Seriously, only 4 games from PSN interests you? Do you mind telling us what games they were?

Dude, you have to broaden your tastes, man! There's like over 50 games that interests me!

Actually, part of the beauty of only having 15 hours or so a week to play games is that I don't need to broaden my tastes.  I can have limited tastes and still have all that I can handle for the most part.

And what I said was only 4 of the PSOne classics interest me, not just 4 games on the PSN.  There were plenty of other new games that did look good.   But as far as the classics go it was Spyro 3, Street Fighter Alpha II, Final Fantasy VII, and Wild ARMS 2.

That doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of other games on there that I think are very good, but I played the PSOne games probably more than any others in during my time as a gamer.  There are a lot of games like Symphony of the Night, Suikoden, and Blood Omen that I have played so far into the ground that they're just not fun to play anymore.
