3 things
1) I wanted to make a superior ass PC gaming thread, console peasants begone
2)

- Star Wars: KOTOR: Couldn't make it work properly. *sigh* I don't think it's because of my system, because other games with similar requirements such as BGE and Dawn of War run maxed out without issues. Not this game, framerate is painfully low even in the lowest possible settings, and stays there no matter what I try. Uninstalled it for the time being until I figure out what's wrong with this piece of shit.
It's a Bioware game
3) Beyond Good and Evil, stop playing lowly console ports and put Deus Ex on.
"framerate is painfully low even in the lowest possible settings, and stays there no matter what I try"
That's how KOTOR runs.

Hmm...I had a similar problem with KOTOR. I have the retail version which all I did was patch it and it's been working fine now. I'm sure the STEAM version patches automatically so it could be another problem.
It could be the driver problem. I know for my PC, I have to downgrade to a older driver to make the game work. Try that and see if it works better.
And you'll love Titan Quest. It's also a awesome Diablo-clone but with Greek myth, which is why it's a great game!

I want to get back to PC gaming real bad since this Steam sale. Hearing about how you could get all the Space Quest games for $6 etc...
With these console based games though like BGE -- how do you play them? Do most of these game support a 360 wired controller?

Dunno really. Most of the games I listed are better played with KB/M anyway. The only one from that bunch I could think that could benefit from a controller is BGE, but that doesn't allow for other controls besides KB/M as far as I know.
Yuck.
Did you ever play XIII Steel? You should get it on PC, with the mouse controls it should be a better game.
bugsonglass said:i second the XIII recommendation. i played it on the gamecube (same as beyond good and evil) but like any FPS it would be better with a KB&M
I played the game on GC but the demo of the first level on PC. Control and visuals were both sharper.
Bugs, have you seen the movie?
SteelAttack said:What's XIII about? Is it related to Golgo 13?
No it's based on a french comic book. Good story, the mini-series US movie thing was not so hot though.
It's about a conspiracy involving the assasination of the US President. Sort of has a Bourne Identity vibe to it. You can do stealth attacks, use chairs and knives and brooms to whack people over the head. Fun game, a few unbalanced parts but overall very memorable.
The first cel-shaded FPS as far as I know.

Fixed that for you . But it is from the French speaking part of Belgium, so you were close.

Belgian barely counts as a country, plus they speak French so I was right

You are wrong, for now. But Belgium's future is hanging in the balance right now. They should just separate and be done with it.
My Dutch teacher always said: "Belgium is not a country, it is a huge vague border between the Netherlands and France."
Oh, I fixed another thing. Very sloppy GG

How can I spell a country that doesn't exist?
You want to see something very sloppy? Look at Robio's ass. I'm jealous!
SteelAttack said:Why is Belgium future in danger?
there are three different creeds (i think) living under a solution which doesn't make all of them happy all of the time so they want to split.
that may be too oversimplified but i think it's the gist of it

There are two main parts of Belgium. The Dutch speaking part and the French speaking part. The Dutch speaking part don't want to stay in the union, because they carry the financial burden.
The government is formed by Dutchies and Frenchies, but they still have not formed a government yet. So you see Steel, Mexico is not the only country that is fucked up.
- Torchlight: Pretty neat Diablo clone (it's made by ex-Blizzard people, after all), although with a cartoony approach. Think Fable art meets Diablo gameplay. Click-click-click-click. The lootwhore in me is happy, but not so much because I'm a measly Lv 3 warrior and have only scratched the first couple of floors down my way to madness. The usual staples of the genre are here, 3 character classes, lots of quests from NPCs, lots of loot and a dark, eerie atmosphere. Perfect for short bursts of gaming in idle hours.
- Star Wars: KOTOR: Couldn't make it work properly. *sigh* I don't think it's because of my system, because other games with similar requirements such as BGE and Dawn of War run maxed out without issues. - Beyond Good and Evil: Fiddled with it for a bit last night. Characters are awesome, both in design as in voice acting. Secundo cracks me up every single time. Combat system is as simple as it gets for now, but this game feels like it will be truly something special. Looks pretty good for a game of its age.
Still to try: Titan Quest/Immortal Throne, Deus Ex and Rome: Total War.
