Honestly, unless they reveal a proper Zelda trailer that showing to me was poor. He talked for a bit, showed a static-ish screen then we got like 10 seconds of footage for a 2015 game.

It isn't a new IP it is just a new series.
But Mario and DK are considered separate IP as is Luigi's Mansion.
X was a poor showing to me. It starts like a new IP some spacebound soap opera, then has lots of japanese Anime like mechs in space. But they show no gameplay of the actual game on the ground. And the graphics look pretty bad for cutscenes.
I think E3 2013 was better, X, Mario Kart, Mario 3D World, Bayonetta 2, WW etc. I missed the Yoshi reveal.
No Starfox showing just Miyamoto prototypes which wont be games for 2 years. The only couple of things I took away from this conference was Splatton and Captain Toad. Oh and I may be going crazy but Hyrule Warriors is looking a fuckton more polished then when it was originally shown. Oh and Bayonetta 1 enhanced free with Bayonetta 2 makes me view it more kindly.
It's obviously waaaaaaay too soon for Retro to show a new game, maybe next year.
