who's the guy with the flying helmet?  was he in a previous Mario game ever?

edit:  oh i geddit, just a toad with the flying helmet.  mario and luigi can wear the helmet too.  nice

I'm getting this. Local co-op is great for me with a game like this, that I can play with my wife and both of my kids.

I wish it had online, but it's still a must buy.  Like Steel it's a game I can play with my daughter and hopefully it won't be overly complex so that she can keep up.  We've had trouble with co-op games before, but I suppose it's time to give her another shot.

Yeah, the Koopa Kids are back.  Thank god Bowser Jr. is gone.  Hopefully forever (or probably just stuck in Galaxy)

I might have picked up this game if it were for the DS or WiiWare,  but I'll have to wait and see before I get it on Wii. If I pay $50 for a 2D Mario game, I want more than 8 worlds. Especially with the multiplayer co-op, it would have been nice if they did something as expansive as Kirby Super Star for SNES.

It looks great for the newer younger generations who may never have played Super Mario World, but I don't know if it quite offers enough for me. There is a danger of adding too much new stuff and ruining it, but I just don't think they stepped outside of the box enough. If I'm paying full-price, I want something more added to the formula than mostly-useless co-op.

Main thing is that if you think about how groundbreakingly different a game like Yoshi's Island was compared to Super Mario World in terms of level design, enemies, gameplay... they could have done so much more. Stop being lazy, Nintendo.

And if it doesn't have the SMB3 combat stage, FOR SHAAAAME.

eurogamer draws a lot of parallels with four swords adventures and apparently that is supposed to be a good thing.  while i'm sure it will be great for houses with many gamers like steel's and robio's it makes an almost only single player gamer like me a bit cynical.  if it had online at least ...

As long as the single player mode plays just like NSMB DS  (w/ added Yoshi), then I'm going to be extremely happy with this game. Miyamoto stated in his roundtable yesterday that it's a single player game that has drop-in/drop-out-anytime multiplayer, and that sounds awesome to me. The missing online play sucks, but I doubt I'd ever use it anyway.

 True, but NSMB Wii is also a single player game--at least that's what Nintendo is saying. It just has the ability to add/drop 4 simultanous players at will. It's a very cool idea. If I'm playing it single player, and someone comes in the room and wants to play; all they have to do is pick up a second Wii Remote, and join my game. When they decide to leave the game, it then reverts back to a single player game again--kinda like an arcade fighting game. It sounds really awesome to me.

 I'm only going by what Miyamoto and Nintendo themselves have stated. Miyamoto said himself yesterday that it's a single player game. It would suck if I couldn't complete the game 100% in single player mode alone. Perhaps the game modifies itself (like item locations) on-the-fly based on how many players are in the game? I guess we'll see.

 You can always use the propellor suit to get the out of reach coins!
