So. Much. To. Love!
So. Much. To. Learn!
I immediately took to Super Skrull.
Encompassing the powers of the Fantastic Four, he has many, many cool and easy to pull off moves: His arms stretch and he can grab you from across the screen and slam you to the ground several times. His fist goes all Ben Grimm on you, but also has a Hundred-Hand Slap effect a-la E. Honda, only difference here is you can direct the punches either Low, Straight ahead or Up at an angle. His Johnny Storm flame powers (R.I.P.) remind me of something an SNK Fighter would use, incorporating a circular ring of fire with a fireball motion. He also has a mean teleport too. Lots of fun! Cruel and Quick. Sick!
Arthur is AWESOME too!
If the rest of the Capcom characters got half as much attention as him, this game is going to be ridiculously good! He has that "I gotta take a dump" run style like he does in all of his games. His jumps are slow and awkward, just like in all the games too. What he has though is is FULL frickin' arsenal from every game in the series. Knife? Check! Axe? Check. Lance? Check. Blue Flame Torch? Check! What makes this even more cool though: ARTHUR can use his Power Meter to upgrade his armor. Yep! He gets into his magic armor and all his weapons upgrade accordingly. The Axe becomes a boomeranging projectile. The knife becomes a Homing Knife. He has no mobility, but projectiles at almost every angle. He can be challenging, but playing with him instantly reminds you of 20 years of Capcom history!
Sadly, it seems you have to unlock Sentinel!
More to come tomorrow!
Until then Excelsior, True Believers!
Just got back from Blockbuster and picked up a brand new copy of it. Booyah! Now if only I had the time to play it... Maybe tomorrow.
I was going to do a little blurb for the characters I liked... but so far, it's EVERYONE I tried!! I would be doing a Bio for EVERYONE!
Anyone complaining about there being less characters will be stifled immediately upon realizing, there's NO throw-away characters! No mysterious Pirate Women (Tron doesn't count!). No funky Cactus men! No little Monkey girls. Each one of the characters has his or her own apparent strengths, weaknesses and fighting styles. Each and every one of them has a chance at being a great character! They are ALL good. They are ALL memorable! Less time spent on more characters means more time making the characters that ARE there LOOK good and play GREAT!
I am so going to use She-Hulk. Totally the most underrated character in the Marvel U.
Dvader said:^ Yeah I'd hit it.
...and I'm sure she'd hit you right back, killing you in one blow.
Dvader said:Why haven't we gotten the crazy detailed post about how awesome Wesker is?
Played a tiny, tiny bit with Wesker. I am finding the Marvel villains sooo much more fun than everyone else right at this moment though. Sentinel, I love. Super Skrull is a beast. Dormammu, however, has me completely enthralled though.
Besides the fact that he is flaming, he seems to hold a great interest for me. He has a lot of powerful range attacks, a teleport, he can fly, he can change his specials via the color of his hands (though I don't quite understand how this works yet), he can trap you with a mini-black hole and make it rain fire from the sky. He's devious and clever, but I can't use all of this very well yet, so I've been kind of playing with him over and over!
It should go without saying, but I'm gonna say it anyway:
Fans of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom that have a PS3 or 360 should NOT pass this game up! It is the ultimate evolution of the ideas introduced in that game taken to a whole other level. Boost the graphics, boost the speed, throw in characters that are sooo much more recognizable in this country and you've got an instant winner here!
Tatsunoko was spectacular, but the obscurity of the characters made it hard to really invest yourself in them and keep your interest. As I play MvsC3, I am reminded of the Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, the recent drama that befell the Fantastic Four... or should I say F3 now? You find yourself getting psyched when characters throw personalized quips at each other, like when Dormammu calls Dante a Lesser Demon and tells him to stick to fighting Mundus!
You've got comic book history behind this game. You've got Current Capcom series in there with Wesker, Chris and Jill. You've got classic Capcom in there with Arthur (I giggle EVERY time I see Firebrand in the background of his stage and nearly CRAPPED my pants when I saw Satan the first time!). Of course you've got the Street Fighters, the DarkStalkers and even a great nod to Gamers with Amaterasu... (that's Okami-Dog to you! ) ! ! !
I do miss Captain Commando. It just ISN'T the same without him in a CAPCOM versus game, and I thought Megaman was a shoe-in, but I feel they are almost definitely going to be the DL characters yet to be announced. The lack of any kind of special bonus modes (like the shooter from T vs C) is a bit odd too, but when it comes down to it the game LOOKS AMAZING, is GREAT FUN and MORE THAN lives up to the Versus Series name.
Even people who don't normally buy Fighters can appreciate it. The controls have been simplified enough to be approachable to ANYONE who's held a controller before, but also has enough depth to it to satisfy the elitists of the genre as well.
BOTTOM LINE: BUY IT ! ! !
Okay work time is over and my date with my mistress isn't until 9, so I've got a couple quality hours to play.
Since Vader made his "Why does this have to be a fighting game?" comment, I have been dreaming about a modern remake of a game like this:
...using the MT Framework Engine!
*Shudder!*

Have fun! I think you're going to flip over all the comic and gaming references. Once you, me, Homer and Archie get good, we'll have to plan on some scheduled times to play!
...and anyone else who takes a chance on this game!
Oh Mutant Apoclypse was a great game. I'd take an updated version. Though they'd probably want to lose Gambit and go with someone cool.
Okay after about an hour and a half I have a few thoughts:
A. I suck at fighting games
B. This is still fun fan service so I'll be sticking with it for quite a while.
C. X-23 is my girl! I really didn't think I'd like her, but she's a lot better than a thought. She's a very far cry from the typical fast but weak characters. That's still the case technically, but she's still a very up close fighter, and not just a pick your shot and run character.
Every character I try I say the exact same thing: She/He's a lot better than I thought.
This game exceeds EVERY expectation I had for it!
Let me get this out of the way first:
SQUEE ! ! !
