Look we found someone that traveled from the past.
Quick Marty! We have to go back in time before Raven marries his own Grandmother!
These lists are impossible for me. The problem is that games are getting better and things keep getting added to the list. It's almost impossible for me to rank them and like Vader my real list would probably have like many games from one series, mario and zelda especially.
So I will just say Streetfighter 2, the original arcade game as everything after were just like topping a cake. The cake was the best and has stood the test of time. What a freaking game, I used to love it.
And Shenmue 2, really just amazing. One of the only games I could call "art" along with maybe Endless Ocean and Hotel Dusk. Shenmue 2 just completely immersed me in its world. Sure it wasn't perfect, sure there were lots of dead ends. But it went to painful lengths to pretend this world was real and you became like a virtual tourist. I loved it.

Whoa, people other than me that have Atari 2600 games on their Top 10 Favorite Games of All-Time lists?! Awesome!
River Raid would most definately be on my Top 10 Favorite Atari 2600 games.
Have either of you played River Raid II (2600)? I own it. It's a fun game too. Activision added the the ability to increase/decrease altitude, which was required in order to shoot certain enemies. The game is considered fairly rare these days, costing around $25-30 on Ebay.

A dude gave me the soundtrack to that game without telling me what it was (it was a burned CD).

I actually considered putting Pitfall on my list. That game is still fun today. Had I done an honorable mention list it would have made it.

i had a knock-off atari 2600 which was a copy of the slimmer design
with the four push buttons, not the classy one with the wooden panel
and the flip switches
it came with 16 games on board and then i had a dozen or so cartridges with 4-8 games each.
i loved it and played it to death but as i was spending a lot of time
in the arcades back then, the 2600 games were a stark contrast to the
colourful modern (then) arcade games. river raid (the name of which i
didn't know back then) seemed so much more advanced than the rest of
the 2600 games i had back then. we used to have epic high-score
contests with my sister (same as with all other 2600 games) and record
them on a sheet of cardboard. good times!
i wasn't aware there was a river raid II, thanks for the heads up. i will check if it is on the activision hits remixed compilation for the psp by any chance

That soundtrack was awesome. I can still hear most of it. I miss that game a lot.

Yeah its an excellent game but not enough to be in my top 10.
Ok, here goes:
#1 is a three-way tie: Metroid Prime, Zelda Oot and Majora's Mask.
Metroid Prime is just perfect. Great action, soundtrack and exploration, which is my favorite type of game. The sequels were awesome, but don't come close to this one. The Wii version is even better. I have completed this game and played through it more than any other game.
Ocarina of Time is THE epic Zelda title. Nintendo put Zelda in 3D and actually pulled it off. I remember waiting at Best Buy for this game the day before Thanksgiving. Great memories.
Majora's Mask dared to be different. It was dark and creepy with far fewer dungeons and still managed to be as epic as Ocarina.
#4 Super Mario Galaxy. Best Mario ever and that's saying a lot. #D platforming greatness.
#5 Resident Evil 4. Turned the RE series on it's ear and made a game better than the previous Resident Evils combined. Sadly, the sequels will probably never reach the height of greatness that this one achieved.
#6 Metal Gear Solid 3. BEST VIDEOGAME ENDING EVER! That puts it into the top ten by itself, but it had great gameplay to equal that. In what other game can you search the jungles for over an hour looking for a 100 year old sniper and love every moment of it?
#7 Super Mario World. SMB3 was awesome, but the platforming here was better.
#8 Super Metroid. The perfect 2D Metroid game.

I played River Raid II on the Commodore 64. IIRC Carol Shaw did not have anything to do with it. I can't remember much about it, other than that I was dissapointed with it.
Yeah, one of the very best games of all times, I was surprised it was not on your list Raven.
Yes Iga I have played Yoshi's Island.
I didnt get to do honorable mentions, so here are mine:
