I have officially beaten 15 games so far this year. 6 of which have been 360. I have no idea what this means for my taste in games, but they have DEFINITELY changed a bit as of late!
(6) 360
(4) PS3
(3) NDS
(2) Wii
...to be precise!
God, I hate Westerns.
I hate the Western style of speech.
I hate the Western style of dress.
I hate the Western style of life.
...but there's no denying Red Dead is one heck of rootin' tootin' fine game!
I like the openess of it.
I like the Dead Eye effect.
It also ain't a bad thing it sher is one fine lookin' game!
I reckon I'll be playin' this one fer a while!
Leo is there any reason why you waited to get the 360 version of RDR instead of getting the PS3 version of back when it was released? is the PS3 version said to be more buggy, like bayonetta or something. or is it just your new found love for shooting things which surfaced around the time you purchased your 360?
i'm only asking because i'm considering getting it for my ps3 when it gets cheaper
It was the 360 and its catalogue that showed me there were a lot of types of games that I THOUGHT I didn't/wouldn't like, but then actually did --A LOT--!
I DON'T like GTA games normally. I --HATE-- Westerns. Experiencing a change of heart on a lot of games I was previously disinterested in, made me think about playing a RockStar sandbox game.
I didn't buy it for PS3 when it came out because I didn't feel the way I do now.
But, more importantly, before buying ANYTHING now, I try to research WHICH system is the Best or which system is the Lead Platform they are developing a game for.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, for example, was developed primarily for PS3. Black Ops is without doubt best on 360. Judging by Live's Online User base you can see why they would want to make IT the best console version.
After researching which version of RDR was best, it basically came down to: Both versions are excellent and easily GOTY quality; some textures and graphics are better on 360, though. THAT'S what made up my mind!

Erm? Sub par ports on PS3 or anywhere aren't justified by having a bigger audience on any other platform. Buyers paid the asking price regardless. I'll leave it at that.

think Leo was simply stating the fact behind the decision of which to make the lead platform for development, not justifying making a lesser version
I think Leo loves it even though he never was a fan of westerns.
That means the game is amazing.
Like he said, you don't have to like westerns to appreciate how good RDR is, which is how I felt. I'm kind of a fan of westerns, not a big fan, but RDR's setting was the draw for me.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Yeah. What Ask said.
I've really only scratched the surface so far. A Bonnie mission here. A Marshal mission there. I've shot a few Coyote. Picked a few Herbs. Rescued that shadey Snake-Oil salesman... Skinned a few skunks, plucked a few feathers. Took one mission to buy someone's plot of land so a Well could be dug. Just tinkering for now. This game MUST have tremendous depth!
The graphics are beautiful. The engine SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than GTA IV! The models so much more detailed too. I am overwhelmingly impressed, so much so, I can actually tolerate the Western setting! You can't deny quality when you see it!
Had to make a few time-saving decisions. I had downloaded games that I wanted to try on a whim. Some were OK. Some were meh! I know, I know I should try the demos first, but c'est la vie, I was over-excited about owning a new system and trying everything I could get my hands on! In the interest of being realistic, I needed to drop a few games. I am making good progress with the disc-based ones, but the DL's are falling by the wayside!
That being said, I got rid of 4 today. Here's why:
- Pac-Man CE: Duh! DX is sooo much better, I'll N-E-V-E-R go back to the original! I'm not an Achievements Whore where I'll miss the points anyway!
- The Maw: Cute. Nice first effort from Twisted Pixel. Ultimately, kinda dull and sterile if you ask me though!
- The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom: OoOoooh! This is one I DEFINITELY should have gotten the demo for! The art-style and presentation is TOP. TOP. NOTCH --HOWEVER-- it is one of those "control-time-and-make-copies-of-yourself-to-solve-puzzles" games (I barely tolerated those Clank missions in Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time)! I DO. NOT. need a whole game full of that, Thanks!
- Zeno Clash UE: I really wanted to like this one. It has an interesting concept; being able to fight AND shoot in First Person is kinda cool. With all of the OUTSTANDING FPS games on the system already though --IN ADDITION-- to the "let's make this as weird as possible to attract attention" graphical style... the game just gets to be overkill and became one to pass over. Oh well!

**Brown Denotes: On the Endangered "If I don't get into these, they are going to be deleted" list.
**Red Denotes: Completed Game! Yay!
My Helicopter Assault on the Rusalka and subsequent Breach has been completed!
The credits roll on Call of Duty: Black Ops to "Sympathy for the Devil" (full song) and Eminem... *I feel dirty*
It's a good thing I let the Credits roll to the end, as it immediately had a cinematic after then jumped straight into:
FUCKIN' HILARIOUS ! ! !
...and rather cool!
