For the record, Zelda II: The Adventure's of Link is the real man's Zelda. Go play the foo-foo ones all you want, you'll just a be a little girl swooshing around in a dress until you've finished that game. Besides it's far superior to the original Zelda.  I'd think everyone would want to play it.

LOL I'll just stick with my "foo-foo" Zelda games, thank you.

Insane ramblings, don't listen.

Zelda II is a great game but it is not Zelda. This will always be the weird cousin of the family.

Weird cousin is right. I'm sure it's a great game, but it's just so . . . weird! And damned hard too. I'm certain I'll give it another go one of these days, but I want to finish ATTP and OoT first. Shoot, I may even buy Majora's Mask, and play it before I go back to Zelda II! LOL

This is Ganon

This is disguised human Ganon

I've only seen his human form until now then. I like the blue pig version better; he has more character. Grinning

I first played ALTTP was back in '92 or '93. It was the first Zelda game I ever bought for myself, and the first Zelda game I tried to play, but as you guys already know, I never finished it. I don't think I made it very far either. It's been around 18 years since I last played this game, so I really don't remember much at all. This will be fun (I hope)! Happy

And so, the adventure begins . . .

It as as much of a Zelda game as Majora is.  Do you dare say Majora is not a Zelda game?

I'll always have a ridiculous bias towards the Adventures of Link. That may have been the first NES game that I really truly had an obsession with.  Plus the downward thrust was bad ass.

Wouldn't a more appropriate named for The Dark World have been "The Brown World?"  I mean, really it's just brown and not that dark.

Okay, I have rescued Zelda from Hyrule castle, found some bombs, two glass jars (found one, bought the other in town), a bug net, a weird mushroom in the forest, a green pendant from the first dungeon, bow and arrows, the Pegasus Boots (which are awesome, BTW, and should have been in every Zelda game!), the Book of Mudora, the Ice Rod (thanks to a tip from some dude in the town pub), several pieces of a heart container, and have now successfully entered dungeon 2 for the second of three pendants I need to find.

I have to say, this game is a breeze so far in comparison to the original Zelda.  ALTTP is like playing a PS3 game right after playing an early PS1 game:The production values, in-game map (thank you, Nintendo!), and superior controls all make for a much more enjoyable game. Happy

LOL "The Brown World" sounds like it would apply more to this gen than the 16-Bit era. Nyaa

I just defeated dungeon 2, and now have the 2nd Pendant and teh Power Glove! "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad." LOL  I went to pick up a small rock outside the dungeon, and a crab came to life underneath it. It started spewing out Rupees too! Grinning

No don't even. Majora's Mask plays EXACTLY like all 3D Zelda's. Its the exact same game.

Zelda 2 might as well be a Castlevania game. It has nothing in common with all other Zelda's except the characters.

WTF? In the Dark World, Link turns into a pink bunny rabbit! LOL

Okay, I'm in Death Mountain Tower now.

Wow, this game is nearly 20 years old, and it still has some amazing graphics, especially when it comes to the parallax scrolling.

Anyway, Aghammanananadda (or whatever he's called) sent me to the Dark World, and I'm now trying to figure out how to get to the next dungeon. The Dark World isn't nearly as pretty as the Light World. Sad

I agree. Sadly you need to get used to it.

So have you noticed how structured this game is compared to the first. You can clearly see the changes in how the game treats the player from the NES days to the SNES days and beyond. Back in the NES days it was like the wild west, no directions, no set paths, you can do what you want when you want. The SNES Zelda introduced actual direction. You may only enter one dungeon at a time, there are only a set amount of keys for each dungeon, all the hidden stuff has hints throughout the game, no need to random bomb or burn stuff. You are playing the birth of all modern Zelda games as all Zelda games since has followed the templated started with Alttp.

While direction makes for a better game I miss that exploration aspect the original had, you literally needed to find the dungeons. I sort of wish a Zelda game would be like that again, but seeing how user friendly Nintendo is it will never happen.

It also introduced magic into the series. So there. HA!

Besides are you really going to argue that the next Zelda wouldn't benefit from Link being able to turn himself into a Fairy?

Yeah the Brown World isn't nearly as easy on the eyes. Plus the fairies are fat. Who the hell wants to look at a fat fairy? As you go on though you'll start jumping back and forth between the two worlds a little bit more, so you'll still have plenty of Light World adventures.

Aghanim is not that difficult of a name.  Sahasrahla, however, is a little trickier.

Okay, I'm back to playing ALTTP. I now have the hookshot, flippers (I can swimz now, yay!), another bottle, and 2/7 blue crystals.

I also found a secret cave behind a waterfall. Inside was a pool that asked me throw in an item, so I tossed in my bow, and a fairy came out asking me if I dropped it. I lied, and said I didn't. She told me not to lie, gave back my bow, and disappeared. The whole thing reminded me of the fountain in Animal Crossing: City Folk, lol.

EDIT: I now have the shovel and a bag of magic powder! Yay! Grinning
