It is very common nowadays for a game (especially the popular ones) to get several installments of DLC, and then after a certain period of time to be re-released in a definitive (or "game of the year") edition, complete with all the premium downloadable content and various other bells and whistles usually at a lower/friendly price.  This is generally a very good thing, because everybody likes a good bargain right?  How does it make you feel though when you've already bought the regular edition of the game (and even worse if you bought several installments of DLC)?

I know we sort of discussed this before from time to time and I remember specifically Archie very wisely saying that if one feels they get their money's worth with the enjoyment they got out of the original game then they shouldn't worry about the "kitchen sink" editions that newcomers get for peanuts.  This is something I respect and agree with.  But being someone who habitually (and a very bad habit indeed) stocks on games I don't get to play for months or even years, I find myself in the position of having brand new unplayed original editions of games and then seeing their special editions going for less than i paid.  AND that pisses me off angry

Right now Resident Evil 5 gold edition is being released for £13 and it includes all the DLC (total value of about £12 on PSN).  Assassin's Creed II Complete edition including the 2 pieces of DLC and other things originally in the special editions, is going for about £15, a lot less than I played for the game alone.  Fallout 3 GOTY includes five pieces of DLC (total value on PSN of about £40) and is also a lot cheaper than what I played for the game alone.  I've never bought a game twice in order to get a special edition, and don't intend to do so but I can't help getting annoyed (even though I know it's my fault for not holding out on the games for longer)

I don't really care that much, as long as the DLC is availible on disc that is.

I usually get the original copy and ignore the special editions, as GG said as long as I can play all that content as DLC its ok.

An even bigger reason to pick up games further down the road, instead of day 1.

I don't much mind either way. I'm still yet to play any DLC except for some Halo 2 maps...which sucked anyway.

Not always especially if the new cover is not popular. Then sometimes it becomes more expensive because people want the original cover for their collection.

It doesn't bug me.  Usually if a game has a GOTY Edition and I own the game already I would have beaten it, and I very rarely go back to a game once I have beaten it.

I kind of like it that more people will be able to experience the game (if I like the game, which is usually the case).

It does bother me a little bit. The latest one is the rumored Dragon Age GOTY Edition which is supposed to include the Awakenings expansion and all the DLCs. It kind of sucks because Awakenings was already overpriced when it came out. It stinks for the people who bought both Awakenings and the original game for nearly a $100.

But I guess for me, I'm a little impatient and don't want to wait for all these DLCs to come out.

Because, like Nintendo's games, they are hella popular.

why do my messages appear blank?  what i said when i quoted gg was that they do get cheaper but it takes longer than most games.  CoD4 and CoDWaW are now around half price in several online outlets and even MW2 is cheaper than full price

The only game I've bought that's doing this is Dragon Age Origins, and I don't even like it enough to care, so right now I'm appathetic over the matter.

I did buy the GOTY of Morrowind (in addition to the original) -- but only because it was supposed to have taken care of hte many bugs in the original.

Most of the games I play don't get GOTY or 2nd versions. THere are no Harvest Moon Complete games sadly enough.  That being said on the very rare occasions it does happen I usually just ignore them. If 75% or more of the content is the same it's just not worth my time.
