I was reading Yoda's and aspro's conversation about linux, and I became curious (I may be a hamster, but I have the curiousity of a cat!). So, I downloaded Mandriva KDE Live CD, which allows you to run the OS from CD without installing it to a HDD (a very nice feature). Supposedly, when I reboot, my computer will go back to Vista as if nothing happened; we shall see!

Anyway, it booted easily, and I was able to connect to my wireless router quickly. I'm typing this post from Mandriva via Firefox 3.0.8 (which is also on the disk along with a bunch of other useful programs). This OS seems very streamlined when compared to Vista, and is easy to navigate. I tried to access my mp3 files from my HDD, but I wasn't allowed; not mounted or something. Oh, well. Seems like a very nice OS, so far.

^yeah, you'll find that it runs a lot faster than the windows and mac os's (should you later choose to install it to your hard drive).

The VG Press runs on Linux Happy

The first thing to adjust to is the package manager.  While there are programs that install like an .exe file in Windows (Mandriva uses .rpm files), mostly you install via the package manager, which draws from an online list.

I wish the others on the podcast used it, because then they could use the recording method I use and never screw up or lose a recording.

I tried it a few years ago when I replaced my hard drive, but it didn't get along with my laptop's touchpad.

Okay, So Windows is increasingly becoming malware. I use Linum Mint on my laptop, I am now going to look into how to play my steam, itch and amazon games library on linux (or at least how practical it is).  I lost most of my internet cap by Windows automatically updating and for that benefit my PC now restarts randomly -- when I can even get it to start, as 3 out of 4 times it blue screens on boot.

So he's saying the Japanese suffer from a case of mass synesthetic associations?
