Since Starcraft holds such a very special place in my gaming life, I can't see any other game being referred to as "SC". It's kind of weird to read the confusion among people like TRavo or GG, which immediately think of the Splinter Cell games when they see that acronym.

Do you like or use game acronyms? Which ones do you hate?

Side note: Whenever I see the acronym "SMG" I think of Sarah Michelle Gellar, not Super Mario Galaxy, lol.

Me too, until I played them. Now SMG owns.  There was a checker at my old grocery store that looked JUST LIKE SMG.  She was drop-dead gorgeous.  Her check-out was always filled with guys buying a single item... LOL

It really is the best.  I was once admonished for asking for KOTOR 2 at a Gamestop.

I don't mind acronyms, it's often the only way to go in a headline - the other day I think I had one that was "SF4:AE PC Has Onerous DRM".

GoW is God of War, Gears of War is just plain old "Gears".

My favorite was what I called Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations PWAATAT.  When I say it I use a Buster Rhymes voice.

SC could also mean Soul Calibur, at least to me.

I'm so used to it being an acronym for Soul Caliber, plus I'm not a PC gamer, so I'm not used to seeing it for Starcraft.

Ok guys, settle this.  Which is better for Uncharted 2: U2 or UC2?

I use U2 for Uncharted 2. As long as there is no music discussion going on at the same time it should be clear.

KOTOR is indeed the best. And God of War came first so it gets GoW.  RE is a nice one as well, vey unique and easily recognizable.

I dont like to use LoZ for Zelda, I just say Zelda most of the time.

There should be a game with an acronym like "ASS" or "FUCK".

I'm with vader on "Zelda" instead of "LoZ". See, if an acronym is pronouncable and with fewer syllables than what it stands for, I like to pronounce the acronym. "Lawz" just doesn't sound right.

Yeah I always imagined it as this word:

But now I see you can just remember it as MMO and then add RPG to the end.

No, you just say emm emm oh are pee gee.  Like any acronym.

It's a stupid one, but it stuck. Better than saying 'massively multiplayer online RPG'.
