I don't remember if we've ever done this topic.  It's a little overdone at other boards, but it's always one of my favorites.  Here's just a few examples of my favorites:

maybe not my top ones, but they came to mind. Plus infocom games maybe not for covers but for all the extra stuff you would get in the boxes.

Got to admit I always found the cover to "the Beast Within" to be creepy as hell.

I was thinking of posting that one too. It's like a modern version of those bond movie projection graphics...

maybe there's some primal snake fear in there. That image reminds me of a national geograph mag that I was flipping through and there was a giant close up of a  snake going for the camera like that - made me jump since I was looking at it really close up.

some more old ones

Yeah, Extend Every Extra also reminds me of the Miles Davis cover for Bitches Brew.

I loved the Mana box cover. For whatever reason box art actually took a step backwards in the 16 bit era I think. I can find better box art for the NES than the SNES for some reason.  This game however was a great exception.

I like the RE4 covers - very moody. House of the dead fits the game well.

So it does - neat.

Did you guys ever see those game cover photoshops redone like old book covers?

Some of those were pretty good

^Yes.

There's a large pile of pulp books here. The books themselves are pretty awful (pulp books are not my thing) but the covers are just plain awesome.

So it's perfect for something like Half-Life. Nyaa

This thread highlights how few box arts I care about.  I'll put the top of a very short list of notable boxes:

Super Mario Bros. 3

The PDSaga box. It was a paper box like a PC game with 2 DVD cases inside.

That's "normal" as well. PAL. They did similar for the Shenmue 1 & 2 boxes.
