Yeah we lost focus at the end. But we had nice improvisation, like the Pachter interview and Adriana.  Listening to it, I went better than I thought it would. I did get a little rusty, because of my long break in hosting a podcasts.

Well yeah, you could use two lines in a cross pattern, but you would need a high resolution camera to see it. Remember the ball could be far away, so the camera might not pick up the line from that distance.

The sphere probably uses the same technique that is used in Robot Cup, the world championships football for robots. They know the exact diameter and size of the ball and the know it is a round shape. So it is easy to recognize, and by measuring the size of the ball as it appears on the camera, you know the distance from the screen. 

So for orientation (angles) you only need a gyroscope. The gyroscopes and the camera now know the orientation of the wand in six degrees of freedom (x, y and z and of course the orientation round the x, y and z axes). If you know the position in 6 DoF you can easily calculate where the globe is pointing.

But there are still some problems. As you know with the WM+ gyroscopes can drift and cause a misalignment. The wii can solve this problem by pointing at the sensor bar, because the sensor bar does not use gyroscopes and accelerometer, or you can recalibrate it. I wonder how Sony fixes their drift problem.

Never played Ape Escape but I am interested. I guess the motion will be for the net. Balls that change colors, sounds like Steel on a good day. Price, $100 for both. $60 for just the motion control. Or yeah a bundle may happen.

Natal talk, that cant be real. You lift your arm? Can lifting your penis work? Natal is the biggest crap ever, well at least with those examples. It will work for niche games with non conventional gameplay mechanics. All the games we are used to playing wont work well.
