"Although we only saw a relatively brief selection of in-game footage at Epic Mickey's official launch, it's already looking impressive from a visual perspective. Lighting effects are yet to be implemented, but Epic Mickey's twisted take on familiar Disney fare shines thanks to creative art direction and beautiful animation work. Junction Point might playing it coy when it comes to some of the game's grander innovations but, based on initial impressions, Epic Mickey's already shaping up to be a frankly fascinating endeavour. There's some big talk around the game's core concepts for sure but it looks like Mickey Mouse is in very good hands."
You'll want to watch this NOW before Disney have it taken down like they did with the other video.

Wow, the animation is incredible actually.

I think that's the best animation I've seen in any game, period. I dont like the idea of linear sectioned off levels though. I want it to be an adventure game.

Well, no, because you didn't see the animation in a game -- you saw concept animation without a setting.

Huzzah!

He shows videos of Mickey's in-game model composited onto classic cartoons, aping the elastic, expressive, somehow graceful stretching and scampering of the original drawings with amazing faithfulness. It's there in the in-game footage we see, too, and is already easily the best cartoon animation in any non-Nintendo game of recent years.

"You truly are annoying"
That's one of the funniest bits from a Prince Valiant episode.
gamekyoEpic Mickey, the game which will put us into the skin of the famous mouse will be present at E3, which will be held next June. L' rubbery aspect of the play, presented on the first images, had disappointed d' more of it; one, after the diffusion d' artworks of the play, which gave a style steampunk to l' universe of the Disney films. If we recently learned with relief that the levels presented on the known asone will be quite present in the play, it seems that the developers of the studio Junction Point want to reassure all the fans. Indeed, of many rumours currently circulate on Epic Mickey: The version presented to the living room of Los Angeles should have large improvements and n' to have more large-thing to see with the images presented jusqu' with aujourd' today. An excellent news for all the players disappointed by the first outlines of the play, which seemed well far from l' universe promised at the base. Because even if l' environment steampunk n' is not with go, we can all the same hope to discover the play under another day. In addition, a rumour would locate the exit d' Epic Mickey with next September 17 (for the United States), but that remains to be confirmed.

SteelAttack said:I'm a tad disappointed by the aesthetic approach the game shows in the first direct-feed batch of screens. It's in a stark contrast with the eerie, darker tone showed by the first images of concept art that got me going the minute I saw them.
Steel are you back on board?
The only thing that slightly bothers me is that there only seems to be platforming in the 2D sections. The rest of it looks like an adventure game?

Yup.
Warren Spector said:It's funny -- a lot of people on my team thought for a long time that we were making a platform game too, and I was sitting back like, "Heh heh heh. I will spring this on them soon." [Epic Mickey] isn't actually a platform game. It is in fact a game designed to confound marketing people, just like Deus Ex was a game designed to confound marketing people. We won Best RPG, Best Story, Best Action, Best Stealth, Best Shooter with Deus Ex, and similarly, this game is a mashup of action/adventure, inspired by the Zelda games that I absolutely adore, platforming inspired by the Mario games that I absolutely adore, and roleplaying games like Deus Ex and other games that I've worked on. It's really a combination of all things. And to some extent, how you choose to interact with the world can determine how much of each of those games it feels like. But really, for me, it's much more of an action/adventure, and the game is really starting to feel like those classic action/adventure games that I've played and love so much.

What? I thought you were the person disappointed that DK Country was 2D with no adventuring?

I'm not getting the implication?
Yeah Spector said that basically Disney wouldn't allow the steampunk if you read the stuff I've posted.

Warren Spector Addresses Disparity Between Epic Mickey Concept Art And Screenshots
Concept art is usually always better than in game and it got uber hype because of it. Unless it was a 2-D Muramasa type game I donk think it could match that either way. It does seem like Disney has sanitized the look.
However if the game looks like this:
With this animation:
I think it could end up looking good considering that it launches in late 2010.
I dont think you should dismiss it on its looks, if you check out the Eurogamer preview I posted above, it sounds like it has some nifty mechanics.
