I’m a pretty big fan of coasters but it had been years since I went to an amusement park. When I took the family on a trip to Disneyworld last Thanksgiving, my interest in riding coasters had been revived.  I got an itch to ride more coasters.  To scratch that itch, we got season passes to Carowinds, a theme park right on the border of South Carolina and North Carolina.

They have one giga coaster, a coaster that goes as high as three hundred feet.  It’s called Fury 325 a 95 mile per hour coaster that starts off with an 80 degree drop.  I keep coming back to it because of the speed and the insanely high drotp.   I also love how it horseshoes to drop under the main entrance.

Do you like coasters or are they too much for you? Which is your favorite?

Yeah, I'm a complete roller coaster wuss because I am very afraid of heights. I can handle Space Mountain and The Rock and Roller Coaster at Disney, because both of those are in the dark. If I can see what's going on however, I will shit myself.

I had you pegged as a coaster enthusiast.

Nope. Not in the slightest. Living with the Land, the boat tour through the hydroponic Greenhouse at Epcot... that's more my speed.

I did love both coasters that you mentioned, plus Everest.  I think my favorite “ride” at Disney is Star Tours though.  Maybe it’s the SW fan in me but that was a blast.

I like the ones that don't kill you. Or where you feel you might not be killed.

Rollercoasters are nuthin. When I was a lad, me and a friend went to this fair in a field that had this machine that had a pod on either end of a long railing that would swing upside down and rotate. The compartment they put us in, well the door wouldn't close properly as we were swung upside down, desperately holding the door shut as it swung open upon every turn. Also, no seat belts.

Beautiful piece of work. And like any historic roller coaster it has a history of deaths, and even one recentish decapitation.

Not sure if I ever got to ride it, as my more lucid memories from Luna Park are from when it was in a state of disrepair, or I was too young to ride it. Later on, I can't clearly remember what I did at Luna Park

I'm reasonably certain I've ridden a roller coaster, but other than vague memories of being high up (which could have been any number of rides) for an extended period of time, I don't have much good evidence to support this assumption. And it could just as easily have been at the Royal Melbourne Show.

It's called The Great Scenic Railway, and is pretty slow.

The same theme park used to be owned by Paramount and had a Top Gun ride.  It’s now called Afterburn, a coaster with inverted turns, loops and corkscrew turns all used to simulate flying in a jet. Your legs dangle as you ride.  One of my favorites.

Nah I don't like the jungle cruise either, although that has more to do with the really awful script that the boat captains have to read. I do like the people mover. That's pretty awesome.

Look, if I'm going to be completely honest my favorite thing to do at Disney World is go to Epcot and drink.

I liked the ones on water in the giant tyre or the log cruise one where you get wet. I don't mind rollercoasters, I just close my eyes on the steep drops. I don't get much out of them tbh.

I'm not much of a roller coaster fan myself.  I don't mind the speed or the drops, but I don't like when they loop or do corkscrews.  Basically as long as I stay more or less upright I'm ok.  I also don't like all those fairground attractions where you're spinning around and upside down.  We have on rollercoaster over here where the charriot spins around its own axis, and that I dlo enjoy.  The rollercoaster itself is pretty tame, but with a lot of sharp, 180° corners that makes sure you're suitably scrambled by the spinning cart.

edit: here's an image of it to give you an idea.

Yeah there’s a ride here just like that called Ricochet.  I believe Animal Kingdom has a similar ride as well.

I hate roller Coasters.

I get motion sickness so the only rides I can ride at amusement parks are water rides.

The world’s fastest, longest, and tallest dive roller coaster, Yukon Striker, will be in Canada’s Wonderland early next year.
