Bayonetta is an action game being developed by PlatinumGames with Hideki Kamiya as its lead designer, and published by Sega. It is scheduled for release on early 2010.

Its combat revolves around the usual genre conventions, with emphasis on fast combos, airborne and ground-based and collecting of in-game currency to purchase weapons and upgrades. However, it brings up some more combat features that are bound to keep the experience fresh and engaging, such as punish moves, torture combos, disarming enemies and "witch time", as well as a distinct...visual flair to keep your eyes glued to the ass...I mean, screen.

Even though the game is designed to offer a challenge at least comparable to the hardest action games around, it also has a unique easy mode, with tons of AI assistance that help less skilled players play and enjoy what the game has to offer.

Gamespot impressions.
Before we got to see Bayonetta in action again, we were presented with a lengthy new cutscene that answered some questions but asked many more. From what we know, Bayonetta had been sleeping for 500 years and was suddenly awoken in order to battle for forces of good. We're introduced to a new character, Luka, a debonair human who briefly met Bayonetta as a kid and has grown into a man and possible love interest for the seemingly ageless witch. Unfortunately for him, Luka and Bayonetta both exist in different dimensions, and while he can smell and hear her, he can't reach out and touch the alluring witch. Some of the cutscenes we saw used the in-game engine, while others were prerendered and had a cinematic look complete with sepia and film roll effects.

1up impressions, voicing some concerns aboout the quality of the PS3 version.
While the 360 version on display looked crisp and smooth, the PS3 version was very blurry and the framerate was all over the place. During one portion of the demo, a crazy scene where you are jumping off of falling parts of a giant clock tower, it was often hard to keep track of the action because of the graphical issues on PS3.

And screens:

All in all, this game looks like it will deliver on every promise made by its creator, with dazzling visuals, lightning-fast gameplay, accesible difficulty options, and over-the-top, insanely fun-looking action. A demo has been already announced, although not dated yet. So I'll be keeping a close eye on this game, and not just because of the ASS.

It has a piss easy one button mode which is about the only thing that tells me I can play it Nyaa

It's not my sort of thing but it does look fun. Its main character is off putting though and its going to be up against big licences.

I have no doubt it will be a good game though! The english teacher VA is slightly weird and brings back funny childhood memories.

The checkpointing is. ... well oldschool.  Looks like you have to finish entires chapters at a time or lose progress.

Fixed camera is a bit old at this point as well.  I've been playing too many new games. Three hours in, only on third chapter. I thought this was a short game?

Bayonetta makes me wish DMC would have been fronted by a hot ass bitch too, instead of a Castlevania wannabe and that other sissy.

Ok. The people who say it is a five hour game must have played it ib Mommy Mode, as Kamiya calls it.
