Will do Vader. I've been avoiding it as I wanted to read as it happens impressions first, from these non-Lost Winds 2 owning chumpettes.

Played some more last night. Assassination contracts seem to be a tad monotonous. Assassin's Tombs are a nice break from action, with lots of platforming involved. Counterattacking is still the only way out of handling lots of enemies at the same time, although I guess it's up to the player to spice up the fighting to make it less boring, changing from long swords to hidden blades, mocking people and shit like that.

I've noticed enemies tend to freak out when they see you finish someone in a particularly gruesome fashion. I've been surrounded by soldiers, and when they see me poke someone's eyes out with the hidden blades, it's not uncommon for a couple of them to panic and flee. Only the regular soldiers, though, the big ones never leave unless they're the only ones remaining.

Ezio's villa is looking better now, so far I'm at about 70% completion on the restoration process, only collections missing (treasure, weapons, and the such). I'm going to have a hard time getting all feathers.

Yeah the Assassin Tombs are very cool additions to game, they feel a lot like something you'd see in Tomb Raider but with better platforming mechanics. Finding all the feathers is certainly going to be the most troublesome. Collecting all the treasure chests was the most monotonous for me because there's so damn many of them but now that I've only a few left to get it feels pretty satisfying. It seems like I'm nearing the end of my journey and it's been a fantastic experience.

Besides Firenze, Toscana-San Gimigniano and Monteriggione, how many more areas are there in the game? Yeah getting all treasure is a pain in the ass.

So how does the platforming work exactly? Is it automatic? Give a detailed explanation, Steel. Yes you Steel, I want you to answer it. Not Archie.

Firenze, San Gimignano and Venezia are places I visited and loved last week.  I'm really looking forward to playing this game.

I also want to know this.  i hated the level of automation in the first game where you would just press the left analog in the direction you wanted to go and the guy would just jump on every platform and ledge.  hope it's a little more interactive this time

It is pretty much free platforming. You're not constrained like in TR, PoP or Uncharted games, where you have to climb only on certain ledges and move only through predesigned paths. If you see a building, you can most certainly climb it, and hop through rooftops effortlessly. The only places where a designed path is evident are the tombs of the assassins, which are closed indoor areas clearly created with platforming in mind, very PoP-ish. Everywhere else on cities you can climb, jump, strafe and shimmy over ledges. Other than the initial jump, everything in climbing is mandated by the analog movement. Jumping between rooftops, and other assorted stuff only needs you to aim towards your destination and jump, you have to be careful, though, because you're going to do that stuff at full speeds most of the time, whether running away from guards, or trying to win a race, or deliver letters.

I'm not sure what you mean with automatic. Once you're climbing something, all you need to do is move the stick (only the left one) to where you want to move, without any of the face buttons involved.

Steel with jumping do you mean you have to press jump, like in Mario? Or is it like Zelda, where you run off the ledge and the jumping is automatic.

You have to press jump. If you run off the ledge Ezio will either stick his head out to watch what's below or go down and hang from the ledge.
