I had to let one of his choices go so that I could replace and re-order all his others.
Beat Saber is the top pick, I think. On the other hand, Tetris Effect and Obduction are the two big choices where the medium is being used for expression, so I think there is an argument to be made for the both of them, even if they haven't has as big an impact as Beat Saber etc.

Read the list
>Tetris effect: sure, fine Tetris lit
>Walking Dead: shit game
>Depression Quest: not even a game, I actually bothered to read the reason and it was still a lame reason.
>last of us: sure, but given how much is about "mah impact" the last of us the least impactful media darling of the decade. Its a generic video game conceptually
>dear esther: aids
>Dark Souls: yeah
>pokemon go: not even the most important cell phone game of the decade
>Fifa: the reasoning makes sense
>Forkknife: uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no? PUBG did it first, pubg got big and legitmized the butt royale games. Tho if you really wanted to go the mile you go all the way back to DayZ, but forkknife, is just another battle royale game that became the biggest one. It is not the influential, it still isn't the influential one
Minecraft: sure, game still wack tho.

No such thing as good written games blah blah blah. You linked some nonsense, the end result was the same, your bois were massive failures in their entire existence. Absolute state of Tomas in 2019

Yeah, but how does what you wrote mean that?

Your previous post was about your experience playing VR, so that's one bizarre non-sequitur.

My previous post was about your list, and the reference was towards "there is no games written shit by a journo or reviewer type that actually describes gameplay" way back when, sorry your memory doesn't go that far back old man
Fo'shizzle.

Yeah, I understood that part fine (and perhaps you've forgotten you admitted I linked you written things doing the same thing as the 5 videos you're so fond of? Albeit none of them called themselves reviews, but half the videos that are identical to 5 hour video "reviews" call themselves 5 hour video "essays" anyway), I was just giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming the dumb sentence I highlighted was not redundant, as a nonsensical reference would be better than that, but hey if you watch 5 hour YouTube videos and think they're good, you're probably fine with repeating yourself in progressively stupider and stupider ways, so my bad.

Nope. List sucks, Tom shills journos, Gagan's woke and right all the time confirmed.

Including something related to VR was important I think, but I'm not sure this was really the game. I enjoyed it, but the aesthetics aside I don't think it really is a great example of what VR could do. Plus, I don't even think it's anywhere near the best Tetris game of the decade.
I think I would have voted for Beat Saber, as it takes just as much advantage of the VR as Tetris effect, but it also offers up a more original gameplay experience. Astrobot would probably be the most polished VR game that was released, at least for PS and might deserve a nod. Maybe even resident Evil 7, as it's a good recognizable mainstream entry and offered up a solid example of what you can do with VR.
Anyway, that's just the peanut galleries comment. Resuming listening now.
I relied on GOTY from others to give me the token VR entry (and from a writing perspective the Mitzuguchi angle was a good hook).
I'm sure if I had my own experiences in VR a different selection would have been made.

Lego City Undercover... absolutely excellent game to consider. It certainly had its flaws, and the load times were just horrendous, but it might have just been the best genre parody of any medium in the past decade. The script had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions, and Frank Honey will always get my vote as best sidekicks ever.
