I would like to nominate my son. He was born early in the '10's and was of a great influence to a large portion of the core demographic's life. Really changed how we look at everything really. Because of that, I think he should make the list.
I would also add the Sufrace line from Microsoft, as they basically created the 2-in-1 tablet laptop hybrids that you see more and more these days.
And last but not least: craft beers. Sure, they might have been around before 201, but the teens really saw the uprising and mainstream acknowledgement of craft beer. Good for them.

Erm, I'd like to point out that this is the Gaming Discussion forum, and as such only games will be included in the consideration, no sons or John Wicks or Coco's.

Thanks Rave.
Well excuuuuuse me, pedant.
Also, how come Travo gets thanked? His list doesn't include any videogames either.
- Pokémon Go - say what you want, it's been a large part of the last decade of gaming
- Splatoon - The only reason why it hasn't influenced more games is because it's so damn perfect no one dares try and copy it.

I was debating on suggesting both. Good calls.

Here's a combination of GOTY awards from various outlets to spark some ideas:
2010 Mass Effect 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Red Dead Redemption, CODBLOPS
2011 Skyrim, Portal 2, Minecraft, Dark Souls
2012 Journey, Walking Dead
2013 The Last of Us, GTA 5, Gone Home, Papers Please
2014 Shadow of Mordor, Witcher 3, 80 Days
2015 Super Mario Maker, Her Story, Splatoon, Yakuza 0
2016 Hitman, Splatoon, Doom, Uncharted 4, The Witness, Pokémon Go, Yakuza 6
2017 PUBG, Nier Automata, Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2018 Tetris Effect, Red Dead 2, God of War, Fortnite
2019 Tetris 99, RE2, COD MW 2019
Robio, it'll be your job to make a top ten of the worst games of the decade
robio said:Once again, how any outlet would put up anything but Minecraft on their top slot for the decade is beyond me. It's as representative to this decade as Mario and Pac-Man were to the 80's. Plus it's been popular for almost the entire run of decade. It came out in 2011 and it is still one of the most watched games in Twitch and sold over a million copies on the Switch.
So are we basing things on popularity or how good they really are?
Because if someone asked me to make a music list based on popularity I'd tell them to fuck off, as sadly anything in the top 100 today is complete garbage since people are dumb. Gaming isn't THAT bad yet, but it's been on its way for awhile now.

It really wasn't that bad. But whoever voted for those lame titles definitely IS that bad.
These came out in 2012:
- Xcom Enemy Unknown
- Borderlands 2
- Dishonored
- Diablo 3
- Far Cry 3
- Black Mesa
- Halo 4
- Spec Ops The Line
- Mark of the Ninja
- Mass Effect 3

It saddens me to say so, but Robio is right on this one. The only other game that could challenge it is Pokémon Go, but that hasn't been nearly as influential.

I thought Aspro was asking for opinions on what the best games of the decade were. You guys are going by most popular? I assume you don't really believe those two games are the best of the decade.
I just don't see how Minecraft has been a revolution or an influence. At least not to the games I play. I did buy that game on PS4, because I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Played it for probably a half hour & deleted it.
In terms of influence, that's a whole different beast. I really don't think ANYTHING of the past decade has been very influential. Literally everything has been built off of games from the previous decade. I can't think of anything that came out & changed the game, like say Halo & GTA3 in 2001. It's been 00's era gameplay with microtransactions & loot boxes added in.
This kind of lists tend to fluctuate for me on any given day but here is a list of ten favourite games of mine during the past ten years. In no particular order:
order:
- Resident Evil 2 Remake
- Devil May Cry 5
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
- Bayonetta 2
- Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition
- Xenoblade Chronicle

I'm not going to tip where my thoughts are... but I can't disagree. The only argument would be if it's a game or a toy, (in the way the sims was). That's not my position incidentally, but just sayin'.

I think if it is not a personal Top 10, then you have to go by most influential (ten games that had the most impact), not necessarily popular, but impact (so PUBG would be on the list, but Fortnite would not, as PUBG was the game that made Fortnite).
I am putting otgether an article on Gameunder.net for the top 10 of the 2010's. Nominees please.
