I finally had my first HOOOOLLY SHIIIIT moment with this game, what a boss fight!! Take a wild guess who?

I did not like how Samus reacted to Ridley, it was really out of character, she has defeated him like a million times already. Her idiocy got someone killed. Other than that the entire boss battle and movie clips were outstanding!

Agnates, I deleted your post so your spoiler would not end up on the front page feed. If you want to re-post it here is the content.  Put the spoiler at the end so it does not show up.  Once you have re-posted I will delete this message.

Well, thinking Ridley was dead and yet popping up like that caused it, I thought it was ok. And yes, awesome fight, but not the best! Finished the main game, the story gets uber retarded at the end, it would have been best if it was over right after the last boss. But other than that, fucking sweet game. Will give it a rest and then replay on hard/100% it.

I started playing it tonight, I'm enjoying it so far other than the annoyingly whinney character they made Samus.

BTW it looks pretty darn good for a Wii game.

Finished the main portion of the game I guess, man the game gets awesome toward the end! Cool shit after cool shit and even the story gets interesting as well. I think I like it cause it is very Resident Evilish.

I must say this THANK GOD I PLAYED METROID 2 BEFORE THIS!!!!!! If you have not played it, do so any way you can. Man it is so cool what happens toward the end. But the game is still a cock tease, as it takes away a scenario that would have been epic. As for the ending, I know I haven't seen the real ending yet so I have no issues with it, it does kind of just end. The credits were sweet as hell and omg there is music!

Now I am getting all the items, it is now a real Metroid game. No directions, just pure exploration... well they kind of tell you where everything is but still, it feels more Metroid now than ever. That said, I kind of miss the action. LOL Couldn't they do both together.

The game is great, can't wait for the rest of you to get it.

So from the guys on here posting real impressions from playing the game, i am getting a much more positive vibe overall (after some initial inhibition/reservation) than the professional reviews ...  This is very good I think as I put much more stock in the impressions of gamers I know and respect than those of prefessionals.

I hope to have it in about a week's time or so and to be playing it after I'm done with AsCr 1 & 2.

^ I want Wii HD.

That said this game is one of the best looking Wii games out there. Nintendo found some magic formula with Galaxy 2 and Other M to make Wii games look awesome on LCD HDTVs.

(Its either that or I have not played a PS3 game in so long. Now Wii games are looking good.)

Sweet Jesus at the post credits extra stuff!!! The item collecting is pretty standard, the game tells you where everything is you just need to figure out how to reach the items. Sadly all the action and setpieces are over so its all about running from room to room getting items. BUT there are some new areas as you get one last powerup at the end of the game. This leads to brand new areas which are incredible!  If only this part of the game mixed perfectly with the first part of the game it could have been incredible, still its a great game.

Sakamoto's quote from a recent interview

“please forgive me, but I’m horrible at drawing, Indeed, I’m much better at programming! I’m so bad that nobody understands my storyboards when we’re making a game!”

LOL

No wonder the story is crap LOL

I thought the story is ok until the end which introduces all sorts of crazy shit that don't really change the outcome...

The RE fan in me enjoyed the crazy ending stuff. Though I didn't like all the teasing.

Spoilers about post game stuff:

Completely random Phantoon fight was so awesome.

So, I had 55% of the items at the end. I dunno why I died at the *last* boss the first time, it was easy enough now. Dodging is a win button but it makes you feel badass. I'm not sure I feel like going back to get the rest items but I think that's what unlocks hard mode and probably some more concept art so I have to do it... Amazing game overall, it's such a shame we aren't likely to see a sequel any time soon. Sometimes I wish Nintendo would take from Activision's yearly approach as not every sequel needs to be an 100% new thing, sometimes just more of the same is what I want. It was awesome they did this with Super Mario Galaxy 2 but I doubt they'll do it for Other M. I hope they do though, I don't wanna wait 5 years for the next one... Maybe if it sells well enough they will consider it, especially if it helps boost hardware sales in Japan or something, but Metroid has never been that big. I just want a sequel that is harder and has some more inventive level design, just like Super Mario Galaxy 2 basically, it would be the same concept, less story, more gameplay, more of the more complex and challenging stuff. Please!

Well I just got it this morning, played just past the bit where you meet the troopers. Quite suprised, I have no real issues with it at all and it seems a really cool game.

I like the controls and I love how its not really 2D, how you can move in and out of the screen and how it all works with the d-pad. Even the auto aiming is fine. I like games that try to be different and its refreshing playing a metroid game like this as opposed to just prime 4 (although that would be cool too.)

I dont really care about the story, although what I've seen so far is fine - sure the voiceovers seem awkward but its nothing that bothers me in the slightest.

The only real concern at the moment is that the environment doesn't seem very  intricate like previous Metroid games, usually there is something to do in each room, but in this game there are a lot of empty corridors that are there just to run through. I also don't like holding down B to move the camera in the first person, just because I'm so used to Wii FPS and lightgun games.

Graphics are great, music is strangely absent at times.

I think B was made like that to avoid issues where you may point to the screen and your view will be all to the ceiling or start swirling at first or something with the constant switching. Having it like this means that it's always gonna be centered to where Samus is looking if you aren't holding B, and you can then hold B if you wanna look around or lock on to something for the missiles or whatever, or just shoot normal blasts to your view like a lightgun game if you aren't holding B. It works well like this after you get used to it, you'll then do stuff like, lock on to hives to destroy them with missiles yet let go of the B button to spam quick normal blasts @ the weak enemies they may spawn. And yeah the controls are all so good, people who condemned it for them must have been high/shit.
