I love games that have enemies that LOOK the same, but then have differing levels. It's COOL, yet HUMBLING to feel all bad-ass fighting all the beasts around the Colony, then get your butt handed to you by an uber-Bunny or killer-Caterpillar!  LOL

Picked up the game today. I don't know if I should start it up now or finish a couple of games I got going now. All of a sudden I find myself with a backlog of JRPG's.

Finish other games first. XenoBlade is huge and expansive and will consume many hours of your life once you start. I can just tell already. I've actually been leaning towards playing that more than ME3, if that gives you any indication! Xeno will last over 100 hours too, if you let it, so all of your other games will go unplayed in the meantime. Clear some time first so you are ready for it.

Xenoblade can easily last up to 200 hours, if you start doing all the sidequests.

About enemies, in the beginning it is recommended to fight only if they are the same level or lower, but once you get the hang of the battle system and know how to equip your character you can beat monsters that are 20 levels above you.

I have not mentioned how much I love the british voice acting. I love the way they say MONADO.

I have it, but won't be able to give impressions till tomorrow.  I just picked it up after a very busy day and may be lucky if I get a few minutes of play time tonight.

LOL.

I love the British voice acting, makes a nice change and suits the environment. The acting is pretty good, apart from Rikki who will drive you nuts.

I think I know where you are in the story, when things first go tits up.

This is where I am a bit worried, I am not connecting with the combat all that much yet. Most battles are super simple without much to do, all RPGs have these. The larger enemies are more fun to fight but still it just feels, I dont know, like I am doing simple actions. So far I find the FFXII system was more interesting. "But that was automatic!" Yeah but I had a million options, loads of spells, buffs, debuffs, summons, etc.  I know it is very very early but I dont see that same level of variety, even when looking through the manual and stuff.

Just a note, but if you want more options and stuff in combat you can choose to play as a different member of your party for different moves and playstyle. I stick to Shulk because he can break easily and beats mechon more easily.

Gem creation, I understand how to make gems fine. What I do not get is what is the whole creation process between the two characters, what is going on when they are passing stuff to each other. How do I determine which role is better for who.

So some dude told me he needs to talk to Dean to get help for research. Ok so I find Dean and talk to him and nothing happens, no conversation comes up about the other guy. I trade with him and everything and still nothing. I thought this is how the affinity system was supposed to work.

Don't bother to much with gem creation until you get level V crystals.

You go to be more specific here. Just because the character mentions Dean does not mean that he has an affinity with him. Are you doing a sidequest and which one?

You have some control, you can tell them to focus on one enemy, or go free for all, or even call them back. Later on you will be able to take control of one of your party when a vision takes place.

No side quest, just random chatter which made my affinity chart have an update.

Check your affinity chart, there will be some short of relationship status there.

Best part of the game. One time I was chased by a level 99 monster.

WOW!!!! The fields in this game make the FFXIII field look tiny. I was wandering around at night and this giant demon monster that is the size of a building is wandering around, so awesome. I found this tunnel and at the end of it was a mage bird thing and it was a lookout, it quickly turned and ran away. I chased it into this small grassy area, it was running up a hill way too fast to catch. I was going up the hill when I see it and a TON of mage birds running down the hill to attack me. I was like "AHHH run!" But it was too late. We started fighting and doing epic chain combos, we decimated the entire army.  So good!

Got to take a break, played for 4 hours straight. 10 hours in and I am at level 20. Oh and I LOVE the new gameplay mechanic of seeing the future.

I am pretty amazed by the size of this game. Spent another 4 hours just exploring one area. I have fought some cool enemies and gotten ambushed by some super way too strong ones. Like this giant spider that came out of nowhere to kill me when I entered a shrine.  I found that there are a lot of easy enemies and a lot of impossible enemies and not much in between. I guess as I level up that evens out. It is a very deep RPG with loads of customizable options and what I dislike a lot, tons upon tons of useless items. At least it does away with consumable items which is so utterly worthless, but you get billions of equipment that is worthless, I wish there was some super button that would just sell everything crappy.

The affinity chart is the most intruiging aspect of the game and I am seeing it start to grow. I see that each time I do more missions and go back to a town new conversations open up and you start to see the different problems come up. It makes the world feel so very much alive. I just wish the side quests were more interesting, the majority are simple fetch quests, at least it gives extra incentive to explore.

Still waiting for the combat to wow me. So far its great but I dont see this game being better than much of the WRPGs this gen unless the combat really grows.
