Yes. If it is the best game that you played this year, released in this year, and you can quantify it (or even if you cannot), then it is your GOTY. Driver: San Francisco could have been in the running in it's release year for me had I played it.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII PS3 -- For me simplicity trumps complexity. Make a game simple but deep and you'll hook me. Playing this game was incredibly rewarding but it was very busy. There were times I loved it, times I hated it. Just not as good as the rest of the games on this list!

Kirby Triple Deluxe 3DS
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition PS4 -- Loot + Online + Nemesis + HD graphics compared to D3 on PS3 last year... but I still played this game last year. Love it still, but not two years in a row worth.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 -- Is it possible to be addicted to a game for a while and not have it make your top-ten for the year? Ask most Destiny players! I haven't really played any true MMO's so this was new and interesting for me, but I'm not the kind of gamer that could ever fully appreciate them because I don't have a large group of friends that would be willing to play. Ironically enough THIS game was the truest Final Fantasy to come out in a long time, but it still wasn't enough!
