What do you mean by Infinite having archaic gameplay?
I should have written that as "archaic combat." You can shoot an enemy in the body or the head. That's it. You can't shoot them in the leg to slow them down. You can't shoot them in the hand so they will drop their weapon, or to set them up for a melee attack. Shooting them in the leg has the exact same reaction as shooting them in the chest. Also, there's absolutely no possibility for stealth in any of the levels. You can't crouch down, and sneak up behind someone and melee-kill them. No, just as soon as you walk into a room, it's all "There he is! Get 'em!" and everyone rushes you. It's more like Doom than Goldeneye 007. I know it's not a stealth game, but I'd still like the option on occasion. It feels archaic in that regard. Other FPS and TPS have raised the bar, but Bioshock ignores those advancements in combat. It's still fun to shoot those racist bastards, though.
I just watched the Angry Joe's Bioshock Infinite Review, and he said you can unlock an even more difficult 1999 mode by entering the Konami Code at the title screen.
One thing that has bothered me this entire game: Who literally throws their money away? I've found hundreds, possibly thousands, of dollars in trash cans throughout this game. In fact, I just found $55 in a trash can, but only $7 in a nearby cash register. WTF? Why do devs do this anyway? They go out of their way spending tens of millions of dollars building believable worlds, characters, and graphics, but then do the some of the most illogical stuff like this. Really boggles the mind.
Lol. I was thinking the same thing. "Who the hell put 19 Silver Eagles in this trashcan?" I'm enjoying this immensely, but Raven's criticisms of the combat is valid. Aiming without the second stick is just lame these days.
The story, characters, and vigors are what makes this great. Using the skyhook is also amazing as well. Right now, I'm about to enter The First Lady's Aerodrome and I hope I have a ways to go.

You're only about 25% complete, so no worries, you have a looong way to go.
I'm at the Downtown Emporia, and I still have about 20-25% left to play.
Just as a side note: I am sure you all figured this out already, but just in case... You --DO-- know you can use the Possession Vigor on the Vending Machines to get them to cough up some Eagles, right? I thought you could hack them a-la BioShock, but no... They just give you some cash instead.
^ Yeah, I did that on the very first vending machine I found, Leo. I really miss the hacking, though.
I don't get the FPS criticisms... I never go into a BioShock game expecting the shooting to be the central gameplay element. I set traps, get them to kill each other or just use my Vigors. Shooting them is probably the last thing I do. As for the Right Stick clicking to aim... Ummm... Isn't that exactly how it works in Halo, too? I'm still playing on Hard, still loving it and have had absolutely no problems with the controls yet.

Is that an Xbox code? PSN only has 12-character codes, which reminds me I have some pre-order DLC to redeem. Hmm, where is my reciept again?
Just started the game about an hour in. Why isnt left trigger aim?!? R3 aiming feels like 1999 mode without actually selecting that mode.
Incredible atmosphere so far though.

Exactly. I accidentally cast Vigors so many times when I first started the game because I kept trying to aim "Tomb Raider" style.
OMG, this game is good. It's the story, made up of so many nightmares and atrocities from the last two hundred years. Yet, like a car wreck, I'm compelled to keep looking, keep playing.
There are sooooo many good games that came out this month. It's like the holiday season for gamers.
Why do clothes give you magical powers? Is this ever explained?
Got to monument island and stopped for now. LOVE the skyline stuff and the combat seems to be really fun which is the important thing. Great game overall besides my nitpicks of 1999 aiming and magical power super fabulous clothing. (?!)
Murder hundreds upon hundreds of police officers in racist 1912!
Bioshock!
Never thought about the clothes. Maybe they're woven with Vigor fibers. Did anyone catch the Creedance Clearwater Revival song? That was unexpected.
