I thought you didn't play Shadow Complex because of OSC, Leo...or was that Bugsie?

That was me.  I refuse to buy it.  I have trouble knowingly putting money into the pockets of people who are against basic people's rights.  I have probably done a lot worse against my knowledge.  For example the guy who wrote/writes most Dragon Quest music is a Nanking massacre denier.  I refused to buy any DQ games after I found out but I'd already bought a good few.  I'm sure there are plenty like him I've given money to but at least it wasn't in my knowledge.

Definitely a worthy cause.

I hope that you also don't pay taxes, though. Nyaa

I wish I could get away with doing that bro.  I try to offset my bastard footprint by working in a soup kitchen. WinkWink

Played Machinarium start to finish and it was a good game, just a strange choice for PSN. Does NOT benefit from being played with a pad.

I'm sort of glad to have my dislike for Braid confirmed by you Leo even though you are normally more positive and open to liking something for what's good about it.  I hate Braid with a passion reserved for very few games.  I'm convinced it's one of those awful games that have mangaed to fool most into thinking they're quality.  (Like Castlevania:LoS sort of thing).

"Pretentious and Un-fun" and depressing as hell.  I don't know why but that game's art/atmosphere/music/design makes me want to top myself.

I have Machinarium for PC.  I love the shiny box so much and it's a lavish edition with poster + soundtrack etc.  Can't bring myself to open it Nyaa

What are you fixing to play next?  I've got but one errand (out of 140 odd) to do on Ni No Kuni which I don't think I will because it requires days of trying and hoping to get some rare drops required for some alchemy stuff.  So I think I'm ready to move on.  Just not sure what to.

I haven't gotten around to Braid yet but I bought it on steam for $2.50 (lolz pc gaming) gotta play it sometime.

Leo I played through Limbo last year and it was a 9/10 game for me. Awesome atmosphere and puzzles and stuff in it. You should check it.

Beat Limbo a long time ago, but Thanks.

I am playing Trine now, MUCH better game than Braid. I would say my hate for Braid is at the Robio/Journey level. Makes me laugh now when I think back to the Sony conference and how much time they devoted to Blow. I don't know who the bigger douche is, Blow or the Fez guy, but at least Fez was a fun to play, EXCELLENT game!

Fez guy. Blow didn't release a broken game and then beg for people to pay him to fix it while blaming Microsoft.

Well, this isn't good. Started Trine again. Stopped playing Trine again. While I like the whole team effort thing going on, just when did it become acceptable to have such shitty, floaty controls in games? Didn't like it in Braid. Didn't like it in LBP. Don't like it in Trine. Best game of this type is --STILL-- The Lost Vikings!

Blech! Now what should I try?

PC original Lost Vickings is still the best.  I bought later versions on Playstion and they jsut don't have the same crispness.

Not having a very good run here. After Braid and Trine, tried playing Breath of Fire IV and Sound Shapes. BoF IV is good, but too archaic gameplay-wise to go back to, and, trust me, I gave it the ole college try to the tune of about 18 hours! Sound Shapes has the kind of gameplay I usually enjoy (your actions set to music), but I found it to be too simple a platformer, and I know myself well enough to know I'll NEVER use the Editor.

I've moved on to The Unfinished Swan. It definitely has some very well executed ideas, but this is more of a family game; good for maybe art-teachers and their sons, if I had to target an audience. I like what I see so far, but do I like it enough to finish it?

I've decided to stop posting in this topic, as I've tried game after game and nothing is keeping my attention. The Unfinished Swan will remain unfinished. Rainbow Moon has been eclipsed. Wizardry has lost its magic. Legasista? Oh brutha, don't get me started...

Don't want to make anyone angry with my general dis-satisfaction. I'll post stuff in the general board when I have GOOD news to report. If I had to base a PS4 purchase off of my last two weeks... uhhh...

Maybe the disc based games will turn my opinion around.

What in the name of sweet Buffalo Balls do any of these games have to do with the PS4 or if you buy one or not?

Two things really:

(1) You'll find generally the same styles of games on console manufacturer's systems generation after generation. After this generation, I've found I'm more inclined to play Xbox (downloadable) games than PSN games. A lot of hype for next generation is also built upon what this generation offered. For example, after playing Braid, I am --NOT-- at all looking forward to The Witness. **At least on the Downloadables side, Nintendo's Virtual Console comes first, followed by XBLA, followed by PSN.**

(2) If a big part of PS4 is the ability to Stream past games, deciding whether or not I CARE about past games also comes into play. I've found recently, it's hard to go back to PSOne games. I've ALSO played a TON of PS2 games (and PSOne) through to completion. Why should I care if I can stream them or not?

--I wasn't overly impressed by what I saw at the PS4 reveal. I am looking at Playstation Present and History to see if I still care or not. Capice?

There's going to be LESS games next generation overall, and developers are saying Third Party, Multi-Plat games are going to be closer in quality than ever, due to the similar structure of the PS4 and Next Xbox. Except for scant first party stuff, there's going to be far less reason to own --BOTH-- Sony's and MS systems. If I HAD TO choose one or the other, I would base it one my preference this generation.
