Okay, will do. yeah I have been mis-spending my upgrade money.
I have too. Out of everything I've bought I use the sickle once in a blue moon, I forget to use my magic most of the time and of the 4 sword moves I bought I use one.
I am in the middle of the most epic dungeon ever. I have been going at it for over 2 hours, I need a break. It is absolutely Zelda quality and better than many Zelda dungeons. Its at this point that I think Steel's head would explode.
Minor spoilers...
You get the portal gun in the dungeon, a portal gun!!! You cant shoot it everywhere like in portal, only designated spots but it still leads to some genius puzzles. You have to manipulate light while moving platforms using the portal to get around, its incredible. The only problem with the dungeon is that its too big and it gets repetitive doing the same kind of thing, moving the light around.
aspro said:I HATE puzzle dungeons, and so that is probably weighing into my response to the game. I like my dungeons JRPG style, grindy.
Add your name to the list of heads that will explode in the final dungeon.

R1 is dash right? I have not been using that, so that's a good idea, I'll try more of that.
I've not had much cash to buy upgrades (or perhaps I am upgrading poorly). It's just not my kind of game I guess. I'm only 3 hours in, plenty of time for me to figure it out I guess.
Yes R1 is your friend you should be using that constantly. Blocking is crap in the game, just dodge as much as you can by dashing around. When you buy the R1 + attack moves you can do a dash attack, very useful for closing distances. Basically dash in, combo by just hitting the attack button and dash out when they try to hit you. Hold the attack button to launch smaller enemies into the air, you will follow and then do that awesome spin attack (buy that immediately). The secondary weapons are good too. The scythe is great for area attacks.
Don't use the boomerang for combat, only when its required like the plague dude for hitting bats. And yes use your spells.
As for health don't worry about it, when you die you restart at the checkpoint with a nice chunk of health back.
I think it may be time I started trying to play this game properly. So far I haven't bought any extra moves or items. I have about 8000 - 9000 souls I can put towards that but I don't want to waste them on something useless. So far I have only been using the basic square attack continuously and the shoulder dash to evade
You have a lot of capital to burn up Bugs.
Vade, thanks for the advice, I'll refer back to it as I play. What's your game clock time into the game at this point?
Anyone have any advice on how to do a defensive maneuver to kill an enemy? I need to do it to pass an area. I try to block and attack immediately after they are stunned, but it doen't count. Is it just in the timing or am I doing something else wrong?

Jeebus, Vader!
This isn't supposed to be a speed run!

just use the shoulder button to block. no attack button necessary. if you time it properly you do the counter attack automatically.

Ah, I see. I was just holding it and waiting on them to attack, then counter. How far are you into it now, Bugs?

i'm in the griever's dungeon. i just got the item ... some kind of tremor glove. i'm now stuck at a puzzle with three platforms which shift up and down but I think I will leave it there for today

It's honestly hard to devote a long amount of time to this game. It's been a hectic week.

About 18 hours but I did leave the game on for an hour or two, I say that makes up for the time the clock doesnt count which are restarts and menu time.
Well I finished the epic dungeon and now the game give me... minor spoilers... a giant fetch quest. Well it makes me go back and find item that were hidden away, I was going to do that anyway so at least I have a reason to. Those that hate fetch quests, this would be a nightmare for you.
Fucking fetch quests! I'm sure I'll love it as much as fishing for Triforce pieces.

Like R2 right? I tried that a few times, I must have the timing off.
You start out with some kind of spike technique or spell or rage or whatever they call those special moves. Just look at your menu layout and you'll see the default spell there. The dash is critical in the battle with Tiamat so start using it now to get some practice.
