Yep, the day had come. The day that I will be delivered from the suffering that is work. The salvation of unemployement is upon me.

I still had 14.5 vacation days left, so I took them all. So as of today, I do not work at Mammoet anymore. Sorry Bugsy, no more cranes for me.

Now I have time to do the following things:

  • Sleep
  • Get my driving license
  • Sleep
  • Train
  • Not doing any updates at the VG Press.
  • Did I mention sleep?
  • Play games

I didn't enjoy unemployment.  In fact it was the worst time of my life and it left me scarred.

Hope you don't have to spend any longer in that limbo than you would enjoy.

Okay, I had a job interview.

They offererd a salary per month that was less than I make now per four weeks. Fuck the extra year of work experience I just had and fuck the fact that I am a Master of Science graduate. And no other good secondary benefits. Car nope (unless needed, no guarantee), laptop nope, next salary unknown. You know what?! It is over! Tomorrow another interview with another company.

2011 starts good, unemployement here I come.

You have the right attitude to get a good job, so I hope you find one you like.

Yep, always spill coffee on someone else's laptop, but never your own. Cool

Okay, I went to an second interview and they evaluated my psy test. It was a test that you had to fill in online and it will tell you what kind of personality you have. Or rather what kind of personality you think you have. Apparently stress is not a factor, I have leadesship qualities and absolute no empathy. That last part is wrong, if I had no empathy at all, I would do nice things on occasion by accident. Clearly that never happens. I know very well when people feel bad, it is just that it is my duty to make them feel even worse.

The interview went well except for the part where they think I am a sociopath. Will hear soon if they are interested. Problem is that the company is far, will need to buy a car.

The company that made me an offer was refused by me. They actually wanted to pay me less than my previous job. How the hell is one year experience considered worse than no experience at all? They asked me to send in my payroll and they will see if they can fix it. I will send them a mail and explaining that my work was relevant to the work I will be doing there. If they don't come with a better offer I will refuse.

Yesterday I was called and they want to introduce me to yet another company. I have not begun searching yet, but I already have three job opportunities? Fuck that, if this keep up I will never be unemployed. Vader must be jealous of me, while he has trouble finding one job, I am probably rejecting three LOL

empathy is the capacity to feel someone else's pain, not the ability to have awareness of it.  you proclaim to have no feelings, hence you have no empathy.  thus, test is right

Of course the test is right, I filled the questions in myself. I do not make mistake.

What is this feeling thing you are talking about?

It's like the sensation you get when you read one of my posts and realize on an internal level that you are wrong, and that a greater truth has been revealed to you.  In time you'll get used to it.

It's strange, though, cause I always thought Iga was a psychopath.

True, but I am not ignorant in the subject matter, which is a big no-no in the management world.

Really? Because usually when I read your posts my logic circuits get fried.

Well, if everything else fails, you can always give motivational speeches.

Okay, for the best part of the week I hear nothing about any of the job offerings. So far so good I think.

Then on Thursday, someone calls. They want to introduce me to a company. In that company I have to make production drawings out of a prototype. They want to take the prototype into productions. The project would only last a month and the pay is good. So I said sure, why not. It is only a month, if it sucks no big deal. Of course I am not the only candidate, see what happens.

Then soon after the same company that made me a deal that I refused called me again. They want to talk to me. So today after the podcast I went there. The new deal is better. They won't go any higher, but still not something to write home about. Also the pay increase is not that much when you grow in the company. Monday I will definitely say yes or no.

Why do people want me? Can't they just leave me alone? Can I just be left in peace like a hobo engineer?

Okay, I just rejected one job offer. It was a reasonable offer, but it was the very first. Plus I had some doubts. But some good came from it, now I know what to aim for paywise!

Are you going to take the contract work (the one that is only for a month)?
