My pS2 died with Kingdom Hearts 2 in the console as well.  I had to buy the cheap pS2 slim to finish.

I'm impressed you even had a working PS2 anymore. I went through three of those damn things.

Back in the PS1 and PS2 era I’d sell them after about a year or so and pick up the newer model. The last PS2 I got was the fat model with the online adapter bundled with it. It still works fine but is packed away right now.

The only console I've ever had that died is a PS3. And my DS is pretty unusable due to one of its screens not working. Everything else is still in working condition.

The only console I've had that's just died on its own and couldn't be used at all was the Xbox 360... several times.

I still have my NES, SNES, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, GCN, Wii, PS3, Wii U, and PS4 for home consoles they all still work.

All the handhelds I have still work.

The only systems that "broke" on me are Genesis and 360.

The Genesis technically didn't break but I was a child and it got to the point were we couldn't plug any controller into the player 1 controller port.

Xbox 360 died though. It only died once, I decided to get a PS3 instead of getting a new 360.

PS2 was the only system I had that died on me (3 times as I said). I've gone through a couple DS's as well but that's mainly due to a young child that couldn't hold onto anything for more than 3 minutes without dropping it.

My Wiiu is dying on me to the point where it's neigh unplayable now.  That's the only one that's given up on me. Then again, I never did own an X360.  Nyaa

My refurbished Wii U isn't doing so well either. It loads slowly and I've had issues with the buttons on the Wii U pad. Pity considering it's the one system I actually invested an actual library in.

I picked up Kingdom Hearts 3 this morning.  I have no idea what is going on in this story.

let me try to summarize it for you. It's actually a lot easier than people make it out to be. Basically there were a group of kids who loved Final Fantasy and one day they found a key. Then they did some stuff. And then they fought some Shadow monsters. Mickey Mouse gave them a balloon. Then they learned some things about themselves. It all ended with a really dramatic conclusion, but the conclusion wasn't really conclusive so there was another game. Hope that helps.

KH3 jumps right into the story.  It doesn’t take five hours to get to Sora like in the second game.
