Fearless director Ronny Yu Making Saving General Yang

“Saving General Yang” is the latest movie brought to us by director Ronny Yu, who also brought us Jet Li’s “Fearless”.

At the latest news conference, Ronny yu was also had most of the main cast along side him, which include Vic Chou, Chun Wu, Raymond Lam, Fu Xinbo and Yu Bo.

“The production company, Huayi Brothers Media Group, also announced that Adam Cheng is set to act the part of Yang’s supreme commander, while the five actors who attended the news conference, along with Louis Koo and Li Chen, will portray the seven brothers of the family”.

Ronny also went on to explain that this movie will be his next “Fearless” and wants this movie to equal the success of that movie.

“Saving General Yang” is based on one of the most famous hero stories of ancient China, “The Yang’s’ Saga”. It tells of four generations of the Yang family (during the Earlier Song Dynasty), all that sacrificed their lives in order to protect their country.

Other actors in this movie include Adam Cheng and Louis Koo as the patriarch and first son respectively.

If you haven’t seen Ronnys “Fearless” before, check this trailer.

Why does every superhero costume have to have scales on them now?

Guys this is the movie HYPE thread. Pay attention to the word hype. What you are doing by posting these Batman pics is quite the opposite. What a trainwreck it seems.

Well, she is a burglar.  Maybe she acquired it from Wayne Enterprises.  As far the costume, it looks incomplete, like something that evolves throughout the movie.  Like the batsuit in BB.

Do you not recognize the Batpod?  Looks like the lower level of Wayne Enterprises there. Again, she could have possibly stolen it.

1989 (that was just perfectly designed for a plastic toy), and 2000 for comic effect. LOL A bad financial year for Wayne?

Probably from getting a new high-tech car every year. Actually that explains the random normal cars strewn about. Looks like he ain't as rich as he claims to be.

Check this out, footage from the filming of that giant fight scene in Batman we saw a few days ago.

I wish I could have been an extra for that, looks like so much fun. I love it when the cameras stop rolling and Batman is just standing there, guys patting him on the back and stuff.

Production Halted On Satoshi Kon's DREAMING MACHINE

The already tumultuous production history of Satoshi Kon's final film, The Dreaming Machine (Yume-Miru Kikai) has just become even rockier with word that animation studio Madhouse have very quietly put the production on hold due to financial issues.

The final work by the brilliant director of Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress, production on The Dreaming Machine began with Kon already aware that he was terminally ill and very likely would not survive to see the project through to completion. His one request was that the studio would see the work through until the end. And it appeared that was the case with character designer Yoshimi Itazu taking over the directing role - based on the detailed instructions left behind by Kon - in November of 2010 following Kon's passing from cancer.

But Madhouse founder Masao Maruyama recently acknowledged at Otakon that, due to financial pressures at Madhouse, production on the film has been halted with only six hundred of the fifteen hundred total shots from the picture completed. Maruyama says he remains committed to finishing the picture but, clearly, a major influx of cash is needed if they have had to shut it down less than half way through.

Park Chan-wook's First English Language Film STOKER Adds Two More

Korean master filmmaker Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Thirst) has already lined up an amazing cast for his English debut Stoker, with the likes of Matthew Goode (who beat out James Franco, Colin Firth and Michael Fassbender for the male lead), Nicole Kidman, Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) already set.

But just recently two more cast members have joined the film: Lucas Till and Alden Ehrenreich. Till most recently portrayed Havoc in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class and Ehrenreich is a favorite of the Coppolas, having starred in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere and both Francis Ford's Tetro and his upcoming dark horror-thriller Twixt.

Working from a script written by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, the plot involves a girl (Wasikowska) whose estranged and mysterious uncle (Goode) returns home after the death of her father. Things reportedly start going awry as local people begin to go missing. According to The Playlist, Till will play a "thuggish schoolmate" while Ehrenreich will play, "Whip Taylor, a jock friend of India [Wasikowska] who befriends her after his pals pick on her."

There were rumors that the plot involves vampirism (which would have made it quite similar to the upcoming Fright Night remake) but that is supposedly not the case. Details are sketchy on the project at the moment and I hope it stays that way as much as possible.

Park is one of world cinema's shining talents as far as I'm concerned and I can't wait to see how his meticulous and bold style functions in a Western context. The cast is certainly impressive and Miller's script (which he wrote under the pseudonym Ted Foulke) was on the Black List, a list of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood.

We could have something special on our hands here so keep an eye out for the film in summer 2012.
