Resident Evil Requiem: Leon S. Kennedy officially confirmed

12/12/25 - Capcom announces that Leon S. Kennedy will be the second playable character in Resident Evil Requiem (PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PC). In addition, new details and a new trailer were released at the Game Awards.

Resident Evil Requiem combines two perspectives that condense into a common mystery. Leon S. Kennedy investigates a body found in an abandoned hotel, while FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft follows clues at the same location. This starting point creates an interplay of dynamic action and classic survival horror. Leon relies on direct confrontation, while Grace proceeds cautiously, relying on exploration, analysis and scarce resources. Both paths lead deeper into a series of mysterious deaths that provide clues to hidden events surrounding the Raccoon City incident.

Capcom calls this feature the "Dual Protagonist System," where players switch between the sections of Grace and Leon S. Kennedy. The plot is continuous, and in some scenes the two characters meet. Grace takes over the horror sequences, while Leon, as an experienced veteran, takes part in action-heavy passages.

The developers emphasize that Leon has matured not only on the outside, but also in character, with a dry sense of humor and a willingness to sacrifice himself for others. His behavior in Raccoon City, the setting of Resident Evil 2, is particularly illuminated. Leon's gameplay is based on Resident Evil 4, including melee combat techniques and martial actions, while Grace is more oriented towards Resident Evil 2

varied structure is intended to make the game "rhythmic", and offers a combination of excitement and action; an even division of the playable sections is planned, which clearly emphasizes the contrast between horror and action elements. Character development focuses on Leon's maturity in 2026, his strategies for dealing with bioterrorism, and his advanced combat skills. The dual-protagonist structure is intended to provide players with a unique experience that specifically combines the intensity of horror and action and creates a new dynamic within the series.

To accompany this, numerous editions and additional content were announced. A cooperation with Porsche brings a Cayenne Turbo GT into play as a drivable vehicle for Leon. The Deluxe Edition expands the package with several costumes as well as a weapon ornament. Pre-orders will receive an alternate outfit for Grace. At the same time, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will be released on the Switch 2, optionally also as a Generation Pack with Requiem

Mike Straw: “Half-Life 3 is a Steam Machine launch title, Steam hardware set for Spring 2026”

Mike Straw from Insider Gaming:

Half-Life 3 is a Steam Machine launch title, Steam hardware set for Spring 2026.

The reason behind Half-Life 3 not being announced this year is that Valve's worried about the economics of RAM memory prices and it's affect on the hardware.

I like to see a first person Mega Man game give Metroid Prime a run for its money.

Pragmata on Nintendo Switch 2 is so high-quality that even developers were surprised

One of the more surprising announcements from The Game Awards is that the visually impressive sci-fi adventure Pragmata will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 at the same time as other formats. In a new interview with the developers it has been revealed that the team were surprised at how the game holds up on the less powerful Nintendo Switch 2 console. In an interview with Famitsu the team says that visually it stands shoulder to shoulder with Resident Evil Requiem. There will soon be a demo for you to check out.

Oyama: “I think it’s reaching a level that stands shoulder to shoulder with Resident Evil: Requiem. We plan to release a demo on every home console the game will launch on, so I hope everyone will give it a try. It’s shaping up to be something thoroughly enjoyable. Please wait just a little longer.”

Zhao: “When we first got it running on Switch 2, even the development team was surprised, saying, ‘Wow, it actually runs at this level of quality!’ The reaction was very positive.”

‐----
There's some Switch 2 screens on the eshop. A bit aliased with an upscaler it looks like.

I'm not sure what to expect from RE9 on switch 2.

The £90, generation pack is finally listed on amazon.

It's already played out.

Lol. "Samus Aran! Is it really you? It's an honor."

Regarding the hints, all previous Primes had hints. Just not a human giving them to you.

Retro Studios likes to channel Halo into their Metroid games.

Makes sense. I've read a lot if Halo devs jumped ship and went to Retro.

I've been playing Mario Kart World too much. I booted up Wave Race 64 This afternoon and every time I went off a high wave or  ramp, I instinctively tapped the right shoulder button to give my character a boost. Wave Race 64 does not have that feature, lol.

That's what I was thinking, the map used to point you where to head to. Now we have Miles radio in instead.

Nearing the end of the mines in Metroid Prime 4.

There are some ill judged parts of this game. The whole timed defence sections get old fast and are repeated a few times too many in the mines.

The sarge and kid characters suck, Miles is actually okay but the female tag along character is annoying AF.

I like the robot and feel that he could expand its use as a non annoying helper.

The lava dungeon was total ass. But the mines are better. Now I have most power ups, exploring the desert and levels hunting for power ups feels much better.

It's a flawed but overall very enjoyable game. It's level design isnt anywhere near the complex layouts of the older games but its still fun to play and very atmospheric.

This weekend have just played some Octopath Traveler 0. Am very much enjoying it. The villains are so over-the-top evil and I really dig it. LOL

I wrapped up Rayman Legends and played a bit of NiGHTS Into Dreams, mainly to stream the Christmas level. And I just started a weird AF game called Little Misfortune, which is some kind of twisted dark humor depressing adventure game. That'll be the nighttime streaming game for some time.

And I still need to start Final Fantasy 16 one of these days.

Every year I tell myself I'm going to play Christmas NiGHTS during the holidays, and then I never do. So I'm calling this one a victory.

I managed to squeeze in a couple of games of Tetris 99.  Go me!

I had wanted to play some MKWorld, but for some reason our internet hasn't been all that great for about a week now and I had suffered some disconnects, which are severely punished in MKW so I just gave up.  Sad

I think you get screwed by the Nintendo tax. I picked it up because it was on sale for only $6 on PSN. I figured at that price, it was worth the risk. And wow, this is not a comfortable game to play.
