No news today. Either my RSS is broken or it is a slow day as not-E3 attendees travel home.

So....

Ah....

I guess this is not a new thing to you guys, but this is the first time something like this has happened to me.

So here's the story. When I bought Snowrunner physical, I was surprised that it downloaded a 9gb patch.

Okay, I thought, a bit large, but there is some content they added once the main game was out. That you could play for free, rift level, free trucks.

There's 4 years of dlc available, to put things in perspective there are like 4x as many dlc maps than are in the main game (and the main game lasted 230 hrs)

These long games I can play as they're broken up in shorter tasks/missions.

Anyway so the dlc went on sale yesterday and I bought 3 years worth of gamepass.

I cleared out like 28gb of data expecting a massive download. But when I looked at the data requirement, it said 60mb.

When I purchased it, the software downloaded in about 30 seconds. I was perplexed.

I still haven't tested it yet, maybe once in game they will ask me to download a massive content update?

But I suspect that the 9gb download that downloaded when I bought the main game, was all the actual content from the available dlc. A

That is terrible! It never occurred to me that was even an option!

Wouldn't surprise me. On the disk DLC been around since the Xbox 360, maybe earlier. Probably easier and cheaper for the devs/publisher to have a single game install and wall off sections of the game for DLC.

Anything with any kind of multiplayer component will automatically include any dlc in the base game download. This is for compatibility issues when playing online. Single player only games might do this too, but I’m not certain. It might have to do with perhaps balance changes and/or perhaps some other changes that the dlc provides for the base game that isn’t necessarily exclusive to those who purchase the dlc. Probably easier to do it that way then to split things up especially if you have multiple dlc packages.

I like how SF6 installs only the game modes you want to play. I only have Arcade mode installed and left off the Online and the open-world story mode, which reduced my install footprint to about half. No need to install stuff I'm never going to play. 👍

Yeah, that is definitely a nice option for sure.

Yes there's online multiplayer and split screen. Plus loads of different dlc packs.

Hey Archie, I just noticed you beat Hellblade 2.  How did you like it?  I read it's even more an 'on rails' experience than the first and is often very gruesome.  How do you feel it compares to the original?

Just started Callisto Protocol. Is this a Dead Space ripoff?

I really enjoyed it. Probably a bit more on rails then the previous game but largely similar in the exploration aspect. Enemy encounters are easier though. Shorter game as well. Looks amazing graphically, found the combat fun, and was intrigued with the story. It’s a very polarizing game though. If you have Game Pass though then it’s at least worth checking out.

It was developed by the Dead Space series creator and is considered a spiritual successor.

The Lollipop Chainsaw remaster releases september 25th.  I never played the original since I didn't have a console it released on, despite really wanting to play it back then.  Everyone seems to hate it, but I'll still take this over not playing it again.  LOL

^I could have sworn I had that game, but checked and I don't. I must be confusing it with another violent cheerleader game.

I just logged into Steam and they have a new marketing thing that shows you games you own that you've nver played that "players you know" are playing now.

I am truly astonished with how many games I own on Steam that I have no memory of ever purchasing.  I cannot wait for my new PC to get delivered!
